I would love to see this happen to the guys that have made fake 435 hp vettes with their bogus tags and restamped motors. Of course they are all fully documented too.

I beleive this guy got 2 years probation and gets to keep the car if he can get all the paperwork straightened out.

Yeah... look at the things people get away with today and never serve jail time. 5th, 6th offense d.u.i., etc.
Nothing major will happen to him.

We live in a sick society,
Murderers get away with murder and we can't even spank our own kids on the bum.
This will be a slap on the wrist for the guy that Sold the Z16 and nothing will change IMO
Good to see he got caught though.

----If nothing else he owes his attorney a bunch. That just might make him rethink attempting this kind of stuff. That and he now knows the depth of knowledge thats out in the muscle car world. It has gotten a bit harder to do this stuff anymore and it will continue to be more difficult in the future. It may not ever be impossible to successfully fake a car, but the consequences may do the job ultimatly!!!......Bill S

We too are on a crusade to bring all the cloners of LS6 Chevelles to the surface. I just recently finalized an LS6 convertible inspection where the customer paid damn good money for the car not too mention inspection fees just to find out it was a fake. Thanks to myself and Chris White he is getting his money back. If you are building clone LS6's for the sole purpose of cheating people, keep your head up. Last year more than half the LS6's I inspected were fake! Of that half, the new owner was requesting the inspection. Inspect BEFORE purchase!

I use a line when people ask me the number of 1970 Oldsmobile w-30 convt 4 speeds. Mine is one of the 300 remaining of 96 built. Fortunately mine has very heavy original paperwork and history but now there is re-stamped everything, fake broadcast sheets, window stickers etc. The olds guys need the same verification system. he got probation.

his attorney's dad was a judge, and his brother is a judge.

he probably got knocked for a good 10k in fees.

the real kicker is the dealer who appraised it as a real Z-16 was never questioned how the dealer authenticated the car.

Just a couple years ago there was somebody selling real tank sheets and paper work to high horsepower cars on e-bay. Just think the car could be fake and built around the paperwork but the paperwork would be real.
