Another iconic legend passes on. Is it just me but I get a different feeling inside when I heard that grumpy passed away compared to Shelby. I guess it's because I feel grumpy would be in the trenches working his magic where Shelby was more of a businessman delegating the wrenches.

Rest in peace, Carroll. With everything that you've done for all of us car guys in the automotive world, along with the countless number of children you've helped through your foundation, you've lived a life that is truly an inspiration to all. Thanks for all you've done, your accomplishments will last for generations.

Life often dictates that the real value of a creator is only appreciated after they have passed ,think artists. Fortunately the hobby learned to appreciate this creator during the time we could still reach out and share our passions. Sure there are detractors and those that believe there were different motives. Let's set those aside for now and remember the great contributions that this automotive icon has left us. I recall my first Barrett-Jackson Auction was also his 80th birthday,it was special.

Thank you for what you have given us Mr. Shelby.

Carroll Shelby made a difference in many ways. Hopefully the distraction with SAAC will not be what most remember about him. RIP

This is the moment he put his hand on Holly's shoulder and said, "Hi* Holly, which one?" He was referring to which organ Holly had transplanted and Shelby said, "I had my heart replaced." That's my head in the left background and I was taking pictures and pinging at how cool it was to have The Man standing there.

*Hi was pronounced "Hah" in his Texas drawl.
