Trailer from Sturgis to Oklahoma

I bought this really cool truck on ebay:

Truck is located in Sturgis. I have made two deals to ship it to Oklahoma City, but both deals fell through. Before I try again (or give up and just go get it myself) just thought I would take a shot in the dark here. Anyone happen to be going to Sturgis with a large trailer that will be empty on the return trip? And of course, by return trip I mean you are headed to the Southwest.

Like I said, I know it is a long shot, but the first deal I had was with a guy here in OKC who is taking a full load of bikes that are all staying in Sturgis. So... maybe someone else is doing the same. The truck is not as large as it looks. Only weighs 4700 pounds and is on a 131 inch wheel base.

I am glad to pay for your extra time and gas to get it here.

That's pretty funny Howard. Just for asking, you get the semi-long version.

No clean up business for me. I just love old trucks. Have a buddy that had a 49 GMC when I met him back in 71. Just loved the lines on that truck. Even though there have been some really nice looking trucks made over the years (2nd ed. 55 to the 57 Chev and the 67 to 71 Chev in particular) I am always drawn to the pre 55 models.

We are doing a lot of heavy landscaping and construction on our 2.5 acres. Last year we took about 40 yards of dirt from behind the house between digging a footing for a room addition and terracing the back yard in 4 levels. I still have a tractor, and have access to a bigger tractor, so I can move a lot of dirt. That 40 yards is piled up in the woods in the back, and is going to be moved from the back to the front, where I am building a workshop. The dump bed will come in handy.

Currently, my old beater truck is an 88 Ford 1/2 ton extended with a very short bed. I rarely drive it more than 4 or 5 miles at a time; just to the home centers or the quarry. It has been way overloaded more than once, which is why I bought the Michelin tires WITH the road hazard warranty. I can haul much bigger loads with this Stude after doing a bit of work on it. I still have an old El Camino for small stuff, so the Ford is gone once I get this one in good shape. I am hoping the body on this Stude really is as nice as it appears in the photos. Most of the ones I have looked at are rust buckets. I love the patina on this one.

After I am done with all my landscape projects, I am thinking of upgrading the drive train and making a small car hauler out of it.
