Anyone have the fan belt lengths or part numbers for a 69 Chevelle(el Camino) L78 with smog, manual steering, stock pulleys.
TIA
Manual steering isn't a factor.
The correct A.I.R. fan belt measures 3/8" wide X 47-1/2" long and was coded YE in box #37 of the buildsheet.
The original 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle/Elco L-78 part number is 3921934. http://www.gastanks.com/1969-Chevelle_El-Camino-Gen-Belt-427-CI-COPO/productinfo/29-B-589B/
The original 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle/Elco L-78 part number is 3883248.http://www.gastanks.com/1970-Chevelle_El-Cam_Monte-Gen-Belt-L78_LS6-High-Perf/productinfo/29-B-603/
Quanta is very good, but can be a lil confusing @ times.
I recommend calling them first & asking the actual part# stamped into the belt & dimensions of the belt you want before ordering.

Rick,
Thanks for the links.
As for Quanta, I've heard about issues with thier belts stretching and as a result slipping with any use. What's your take on this issue? Or, is it even an issue, I have no first hand knowledge just 3rd hand info.

I use Quanta belts on EVERY restoration and have had absolutely no issues with them in the past. However, keep in mind most of these cars see limited street use.

I agree with Rick Nelson as far as appearance, but I had nothing but problems with some I have used in the past on two different cars. If you plan to have some <span style="font-weight: bold">"occasional"</span> fun with your car (EG - heavy foot), watch out for twisting and/or flying off rendering your water pump inoperative which hopefully you will catch in time. Deep groove pulleys help though they are not the ultimatie preventative. For show - yes, for driving - no. My car only sees about 200 miles a year, but I will not risk using those belts.
Just my very humble opinion.
