Hi guys,
I can purchase a used set,[barely] of G-70 15 Goodyear redstripe tires.Im presuming they are repops. Just a couple of questions..
Where are the date codes and how are they read? I have seen date codes on new Radial T/As but cant find anything similar on the Goodyears in numbers. Pix would work for me!
Also they all have BLEM on the sidewall. Im presuming 'blemish?" Would the tire be faulty or a factory 2nd?
cheers Dave

Those look like originals!! The current reproductions have only been out for a couple of years and I see some cracking on the rubber. Another fact is that the reproductions, no blems are sold.
If you are looking at reproductions, contact me. My cell is 816-654-3400.
Another thing, the date code on the reproductions will have at least 4 numbers for the last digits (first 2 are the week, second 2 are the year).

Thanks Smallhurst..I see you do the repop tyres, the freight to OZ would kill it for me though!
These are the only other pix I took. Not sure if these pix help ID them for dates
I think I'll be buying them. They just arnt around here in OZ and will be nice for attending local shows on my Mopar.Im pretty sure runners, bees and A12s had these sizes, so Im guessing others had them also? Maybe I should sell them on ebay to a barn find, number cruncher or gold cert car owner and buy some repops from ya!

That is unusual to have Blems on repops but polyester cords are repops

The tire code translates to the 11th week of 1970, manufactured in the Akron II, OH plant.

Thanks guys,
I had another look yesterday and did some haggling! Ive put my name on them. I diddnt think they were originals, being on repop rallys and not knowing how to date code them.
Although they have some fine cracks, they sure look like they have done verry low milage! They came into OZ on a black/black 138 67 Chevelle and the guy has fitted 18s n 20s [ugghh] ..Good for me though!

Belms on the repops are not allowed out of the factory.
Also, the repops are made as they were in the day. Polyglas= polyester+ fiberglas

Dave,
I have had tires sent to Oz before. They just made it to a crate before the trip. Contact one of your car buddies 'down under' and make it happen!!!

Hmm, Ok realistically I want to drive on a set. Being in OZ, they prob are not going to be as appreciated anyways and im thinking a new set of repros might be more to what I require for my car. I can ship these to Longbeach and to a friend that owns a Speedshop in SoCal so getting them to CA wouldnt be an issue. So what are these worth to the right car/person?
cheers Dave
