I have a 1968 427-435 corvette roadster that I purchased a couple years back, I'm finally getting around to stripping it and this thing had definately seen some action. to make it right it will need to rear quarters, a front clip, correct 68 doors (the later doors should have been a clue) and a rear dec, OR I can use what is there, add L-88/Zl-1 Flares and have some fun. I have whats left of the tank sticker (past owner lamented it) zone # 79 and dealer code 959 or 059, anybody have any odeas about this car? I bought it out of PA, it has a Yenko (or Motion) hood on it and it has seen LOTS of action. Ya know, its cool that people kept some of them perfect, but honestly, the reason that these cars are legends is some people actually drove the snot out of them (like this one). Any advise would be great.....

Zone # 79 was usually some kind of export or overseas delivery also sometimes used for military personnel stationed offshore.
Nothing on 059 but NCRS has 959 recorded for a 70's Hawaii delivery as noted below.
Is it a C48 car?

Wow, that is actually pretty interesting I think you are correct about delivery to Hawaii. amazing the car went from there all the way back to Pa (hitting several things along the way). Thanks for the information, very helpful....

No real need to see the tank sheet and more interested if you can share the RPO's legible also vehicle info, build date etc.
If an a/c car, is the C60 showing also the L71 etc?
I was asking on the C48 thing as '68 was the first year for mandatory heaters and an Export zone/Hawaii delivery probably the best possibility of one getting out after 01/68.
Either way the car sounds very cool and if you're taking pictures, one including the hood would be great to see!
Is there a rear traction unit and/or signs of a roll bar or cage?

Chris,
Open it up as a .pdf, do a print screen-and paste it into paint, then save as a .jpg file and post it <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif
I can convert the pdf as a jpg without loosing resolution.

ok, still stripping this car, I have now confirmed that the hood (yenko style, like the silver 1968 Coupe that surfaced) has been with the car since it was Corvette Bronze, then it appears when the car was damaged the whole car was repainted marina blue, and it looks like down beneath the passenger side front bumber it was painted yellow, kinda like Penske Colors. Is it possible the car was ordered for military guy and delivered in PA with those codes? Anybody remeber a Bronze or Marina Blue Car with a yellow mark tearing around PA. back the the day?

Cool update, keep 'em comin'!
If the tank the pics won't post can you note the RPO's also is it dealer 959 not 059 for sure?
Do you think it's always been a street car, any signs of racing parts or a rear traction device?

My Zone 79 Stage 1 was ordered while the GI was stationed in Seoul , Korea. I know this because I have the original order form, and all documents. It was delivered to Hix-Green Buick in Atlanta when he returned home.
I even have a refund letter from the state of Georgia for erroneous sales tax. He was charged also in NC, when he got the car home and registered. It's the only Zone 79 car I've seen with this depth of paperwork.
It also documents that the 79 car's did not necessarily have to be exported, but could have been ordered for US delivery while stationed overseas.

car is pretty much stripped of paint, hood has been on car since day one (it appears, because the paint is corvette bronze) and it has the same (yenko?) hood as the 1968 Silver Yenko Coupe that surfaced a few months (years?) back. I'm not sure which direction I am going with this car yet....my next move will to be to send money to NCRS to see were the car was originally delivered, this should answer some questions...

sent for the shipping data report on car from NCRS (yeah, I move slow, car has taken a back seat for a while), the delivery dealer code acording to NCRS is 50 in zone 49, so the car was delivered to Bonner Chevrolet in Kingston PA (I have the tank sticker, but it is rough and somebody laminated it to "save" it, so that is the confusion with the numbers. Anybody know anything about Bonner Chevrolet? This car was delivered with a stinger hood just like the 68 Yenko coupe that recently surfaced, were they close to Yenko in location? Did they have a dealer relationship? Any info would be great.....

Bonner Chevy is still in operation although it's been through a few different dealer codes since.
Their old info noted below is the same codes as yours, I don't think they were a Yenko network dealer but others can chime in if so.
Note the currrent operation website link below also they're on Facebook too!
Slim chances of old paperwork being around but always worth trying for...also asking for old emblems/plate frames etc!
Is it still possible the car could've been ordered by military personnel stationed offshore and 079 showing on the sheet but the records NCRS gleans their info from lists Bonner's codes as that's were it was delivered and billed to?
Best of luck w/ everything, love to see more of the car including hood!
