Is there currently any market/demand for a modern version of the old L72/L78 TRW forged 11-1 closed chamber piston? I've seen a few posts on the subject here & there, just wondering how many people out there are actually in need of them.

(I know there are a few choices available currently, but I'm told cost is a factor and that some are wanting something more "original" in design)

Just curious.....

I wonder if most people are lowering the compression when doing a rebuild therefore lowering the demand? I haven't decided what pistons to use for my l78 build. Dustin

Not really needed...when I did a factory type build of our L72 it came in at a *whopping* 10.2:1 with all of the factory parts/pieces/specs.

Most of the guys I know are Pure Stock racers, so take this with a grain of salt, but they tend to want/need a more correct piston, ie, one that matches the actual published dome volume, not the TRW that is around 5-6cc short, yet is quite a bit heavier. And I'm guessing the majority of guys just let there engine builder supply the piston, and I have yet to meet one that will recommend the factory spec pistons unless it's mandated by class!
