View Full Version : Only at the SCR
If for no other reason then this, do not miss SCR15, as today I received word today that not only will Ken Barnhart once again have his ZL_-1 Camaro at the SCR, but he is planning on making a pass or two.
Ken is one of the most liked, and respected persons in our hobby, plus races one of the most historic supercars of all time, the 1969 ZL-1 Camaro he bought brand new from Fred Gibb himself.

Any chance we could get Ken up in the tower for an 'interview' some time Saturday?
This guy has stories that go on forever. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/worship.gif
That would be very cool... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

Wish I could make it, even just to see Ken and his car run a few passes!
They really are somethin' else!!!

For those that don't know about Ken. I think he is 71 ? Years old and pulls the wheels off the ground with his 4 speed ZL1 that he bought new and runs in the 10's

I'm trying my best to get to SCR 15 as I have had the honor to attend and show my L89 at a couple of SCR's and meet some of you crazies!!!!. These are one of the best events that one could see. A lot of nice and rare muscle that many people will never have the chance to see on the track or at the show.
I was fortunate enough to be trailer buddies with Ken Barnhart one year at the SCR when it was in Collinsville and had a chance to meet him and his significant other, Mrs. B..... a true class act they are. His car really is "something else".
Here's my question, of the original 69 ZL1's is Ken the only one to still be the original owner? I know these car change hands over the years but I'm just curious.
I think Jerry M has a few original owners listed in his books.

Also Bob Jane in Australia, but I'm not sure he has owned it continuously.

Actually he is 74 and still going strong. Every time I am with him I here more new stories about his car days gone by and they are never boring!
Here is a recent shot I took. You can add your own caption........

LOL. Guess Jerri and I need to redo our math per our discussion yesterday. I could have sword she said he was 74 but I do remember her saying he was born in '36. Regardless, never too old to race and share the fun! He still loves it more today then ever.

There's rumored to be another one sitting in a garage, ..... in Illinois, ....... still wearing the slicks and other day-2 parts from its last glimpse of daylight in 1974. And for sentimental reasons, it CAN'T be bought.
And for the record; Ken NEVER claims to be the Only Original Owner, .... just the only one we know of at this time. I'll bet he'd be thrilled to meet and talk to another. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

Not to steal Mr. Barnhart's limelight, but based on the Yellow engine block, that looks like the 2002 "Nickey" ZL1.
