69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project

Went to get the car with the intention of bringing it home. Its very cool!....but....There were a few things that I did not like, and will need to be addressed/re-done before I can assemble the car.....so... Its now off the body dolly and on the rotisierrie. Soon to be on its way back to the paint shop. Painter is honoring his work so I'll let him do his thing...good thing I'm a patient guy <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif . I'll take some good pics soon...been busy with other stuff since I got back with it.

I actually don't have a Chevelle right now, I had to sell both of mine to come up with cash for a place in the country..we had wanted to get a place in the country for a few years. One came up for sale that we really wanted and needed a down payment because our old house was not even on the market yet. It all worked out, we live in the country, the old home sold. I will be looking for a 68 or a 69 post in a couple years when I have more cash available. I can't wait! Troy

Well, heres a update before the end of the year. The body is home. Paint was completed during the summer and I picked it up sometime in sept. It was very nice indeed..and I had visions of putting it back on the frame..installing all the goodies I have amassed onto the freshly painted body. But thats not the case. On the way back home with the body in the trailer, the wheel hubs on the rotisserie collapsed. This allowed the straps to come loose!. Was not a pretty sight when I opened the doors at home. So, repairs are under way. Both quarters and doors kissed the trailer sides... for awhile <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/no.gif ..rockers too. Have a local shop helping me out with the paint repairs. Working the bottom of the car now. More after the holidays.

Making progress. Repairs on the doors and quarters is almost done...things kinda got out of hand. I figured if I was fixing stuff i might as well fix anything I may not like...right?..well if you give a mouse a cookie ..he's gonna want to use the DA!

front clip is finish paint and very nice.. and will just get a scuff and blend as will the roof and trunk lid.
Hopefully have some color in a couple of weeks..picking up steam now

Hi Al, this is Troy ...the guy that sold you this car....can't wait to see the car finished. I wish I could have kept it, but knew I could not complete the resto...and I am so glad the car is going to be done to a high level. That Frost Green is one of my favorite colors! 1968-1969 GTO/Lemans Verdoro Green is another color that is up there. My first car was a 1969 Pontiac Custom S 2 door Post Verdoro Green. Green, the color of Envy!

Hey Troy!.There are a few I would like back as well.....lots of stuff coming soon. Hoping to wrap up paint in a couple of weeks. I have decided to fix anything that I see. So much sanding!!!, then its fun time..assembly!:)

was test fitting the rear quarter extensions. Its amazing how no two pieces fit the same. I tried two different housing on the drivers side (i have spares) and each one fit differently..one better and one not. Not much left on the rear of the car. Make sure it's not too soft to start sanding it first. Do the fingernail test in an inconspicuous spot. If it's too soft and doesn't pass the test, let it sit. The paint materials you used can set for a while before sanding. We let the Fig's car sit 2 weeks before sanding/buffing it using the same materials.

Those will look great on the car. The NOS set I put on my 300 Hard top had nylon clips that were so hard, they would not go into the holes in the rocker panel. I had to find newer re pops which worked just fine. Just be ready for that.

I am creating a &quot;room&quot; in my shop that could/would be used for priming and possibly painting.

I have been waffling for months as to how big (how many CFM) of a fan to install in outside wall

and how many square feet of filtered air do I need coming in from LARGE shop, that I can heat/warm up ??

Also in placing filter(s) over exhaust fan how much does that cut down on the CFM rating ????

and lastly what about explosive proof fans versus any other type ????

Did your carpet have a lot of wrinkles? If so, how did you get them out? I bought new carpet for my 300 and it has quite a few wrinkles. Same color as yours. Haven't tried installing it yet.
