I threw in a bid, never really expecting to buy this 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Indy Pace Car SURVIVOR!

What am I gonna do when I get home... How do I explain this to my dear wife tonight?

Help!

Very nice! But I've got a question: Do you know if the spoiler is documented to have been installed in the factory or dealership? Because the spoilers were not supposed to be available for the ragtops.

Is anyone headed north from Florida (to anywhere north of there) with an empty spot in a trailer?
It won't be easy to get that car up to Alberta, Canada.

Dunno yet, but I'll find out. Thanks!

So far, I know very little about Oldsmobiles. If you see anything else in the pics, your knowledge would be very much appreciated.

I know Oldsmobiles pretty well and I looked at this car closley yesterday on ebay. I liked the no Air Conditioning, I'd also prefer bucket seats. The car has the ram air hood and the whole car appears very original.
I bought a '72 442 on ebay the exact same way, "I couldn't get it at this price", but I did. It was a wonderful car. I wouldn't buy another car that way again. I think you'll be OK.

LOL!

I guess if one GM car leaves Canada, another one of similar vintage has to go back. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif

I used TFX to get the Firebird here from British Columbia and was quite pleased with them (other than the problem with the former broker they used for my transaction, who dropped the ball on getting the proper US Customs stamp on the paperwork). But TFX even refunded my brokerage fees for having to go through that hassle. I was most impressed with their handling of that problem.

I highly recommend them.

Tell her you won the car (not exactly a lie) but then tell her it's going to cost around $25,000 to get it home.

Funny, but I am better with Pontiacs and Mopars - I just happen to have an Olds. There's much more knowledgable people than me. Alas, the braintrust of fact and figures on a site like this doesn't really exist in the Olds world for some reason. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

If you don't want it I know someone who has been looking and might be interested?

I'm sure this isn't the first car your wife doesn't know about!

If she really isn't happy about it contact me. I'm not saying I will buy it, but I could have some interest. If the car is as described the price isn't a gift. nor is it entirely too much. I have been stung and pleasantly surprised with sight-unseen purchases and promised myself to not do it again. Maybe the transporter could stop in Maryland on the way to Canada.

It is tempting to hit the "bid" button sometimes. I was hot on a car this week and called the owner before bidding. I wanted to bid a safe price after our converastaion, but I thought about the consequences of actually getting the car and possibly being unhappy, so I held back. The car did sell quickly, but after my 442 ebay experience (even though it was a great car), I thought I had better go look first.

Whew, everything is ok on the home front... she said I can keep it!
I'm kinda having deja vu from when a puppy followed me home as a kid.

I've received copies of dealer documentation and the trim tag, and the car is looking better all the time. If I had a week to spare, I'd fly down and drive the car back from Florida.

Can I interest anyone in the following:

Canadian documented 1968 El Camino SS L78, M22, 488 posi, buckets with headrests, 6k rolling tach & gages. Needs restoration, but running/driving.

1970 Firebird - Lucerne Blue with Blue interior, totally rust free survivor - good driver, in fact, wheelhop drove it from Chicago up to Montana for me a few years ago.

Unfortunately they've gotta go. I'll be listing them soon with more details.

This may help get the car somewhat closer to the Canadian border
