Dennis and I were wondering if my 1968 Benchmark Corvette still had the tank sticker in place. Well, I guess so ...

Do they take off points for Zora's signature?
I would guess that they did. My 69 has Duntovs autograph on the radio block off plate and when I had it judged, I received a deduct for it. BTW, nice car!

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Please join me in welcoming Mr. Andy DeLorenzo to the website! Andy owns some of the most beautiful, original survivors in the country. I should know, I used to own a bunch of them. Andy and I became friends through ebay about 4 or 5 years ago. Great Guy with some Great Cars.
Thanks Andy, Ed

Now that's a great looking '68 Corvette! LOVE the colors, vinyl top, and PO2 hubcaps. So many people just hate those hubcaps but they've always been a personal favorite of mine. Possibly the heaviest hubcap ever made also! Anyway, I'd walk right past a sea of Red-on-Black Vettes to look at this particular one. Great car.

Thanks again guys! You're right Mark, that has got to be the world's heaviest hubcap. It's diecast and would really do some damage on the road if it left the vehicle.
I don't know if everyone realizes but they covered the traditional AG rally wheels. I think that's why people simply took them off and added trim rings and center caps. As I get older, I appreciate things that are outside the norm. Ed
PO2 is a cool option, I've always loved it. Looks great with redlines or whitewalls. It gives the Corvette a "classy" look.

----In late 1968 after the 69s were out, my local dealership, Heintzlman Chevrolet (just north of Medina,OH. on RT.42) was going out of business. On the floor was a Corvette Bronze, L-89 convert with every available option, including Tobacco leather. I tried my damndest to get that car and he was willing to sell it under his cost just to move it, but I just couldnt swing it. Fast forward to about 5 years ago and the car showed up at Pheasant Run at Danas auction in the fall all restored and looking very tasty. What a great color combo this is in person!!!!!!
----It seems funny now, as I had a very nice 66 Hemi Satellite I wanted to trade but he would only give me $800.00 for it, and I just couldnt do that. Sold it to a local Chrysler service rep I knew and I think he still has it stuffed in his garage........Bill S

If you scroll up and down on that photo of the rim, it looks as if it is in motion. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

Oh yeah, and it has some paperwork.
Cool stuff, 1968 Warranty Plates are the best with the vin punched in the paper part of the book.

Just had to resurrect this thread --as I had owned this car from 1993 -1997 and stumbled across this thread as I google my old car from time to time to try and see what is happening with her. The last news I had til this was she was owned by Barrett Jackson Florida auction house which I got off a C3 registry. The car has a fascinating history which I tracked down when I had the car and I would like to share with the current owner. I was the guy who got Zora's autograph on the ignition shielding. If anybody with contacts to this car is interested please contact me at
[email protected]. I even ran into a guy at a car show who was friends with the original owner and had ridden in the car back around 1970.
I would really like to share some interesting stuff with the owner plus I even still have some old repair bills from the car in a folder I still have with pictures and other stuff relating to the car.
Thanks.

I took the tank out of my L71 69 vette and preserved the whole tank with the sticker attached. It was almost to the point of being unreadable, so I probably saved it.

Looks like the OO sold it to his brother for $4000 in late '68. I happen to like the '68 &'69 without the bodywork behind the wheels. Neat car for sure!

Just an fyi, but the originator of this post Ed Lis regrettably passed away several years ago.
