So, just out of curiosity, is there some reason the car and engine were not reunited?

$150,000 is a lot of money for a car that rust starting to show on some of the hardware and has evidence of oil sprayed all over the exhaust from a pinion seal leak.

I think it's ''buyer beware''on this car.If I had $150K to spend there are a lot nicer and original cars for sale.Might get 2.

The eBay ad states "There are just three 1969 ZL1 Camaros in existence that are still fitted with their original engines and to see one would be almost like spotting a unicorn". Is that a false statement or what???

Totally false, Unicorns do not exist! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smirk.gif

I believe this car has been discussed before. The original ad stated that the ZL1 engine made it a ZL1.

sad situation, but overpriced for what it is.

I agree. Sad situation. But still, what is the story on why engine #62 did not get reunited with car #62?

MONEY ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY the guy with the motor wants to much

What am I missing? The CHP cert says it's a vintage ZL1 engine, not necessarily the engine for # 62.

I would have understood if it had read the born with OEM engine for ZL1 number 62.

Did ZL-1's come with a 403 bell housing?

Stefano. Even though Jerry didn't state which car it was out of, the ad says "Since we have the engine from car #62, it was only proper that this Camaro was built to the same precise specifications as the original."

That is all I was going by. I assume the vin is stamped clearly enough to id it as #62.

Matt: Pretty sure ZL1's came with the 621 bell housing, not the 403. Why would they be different from the other big blocks.

Both the ZL1 and L88's came with 403 bell housings.

Well, learn something new every day (almost every day).

I thought so, just making sure. The ZL1/L88 flywheel is only 10.5" but wasn't sure if that was used in the Camaro as well.

I believe the ZL1 came w/ a 10 1/2 inch clutch & #403 bellhousing

Probably because the owner of the engine wanted more money then the owner of the car wanted to pay. Holding the engine for ransom I would guess. The owner of #62 should take the engine out of his car, drop it on the side of the road in the next town over from this guy and call the car in stolen, then tell the cops that he found out who stole his car and where the engine went. I wonder how that would play out? But who knows the real story,I am just being a douche of course. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

A previous ad for this car had a photo of the block deck. It may have been a production ZL1 engine but it was not the OE engine for #62 or any other production ZL1 Camaro.

Does the ZL1 #62 have it's original engine.

So all the back and forth on the car, does anyone know where it was built? when? I have read it was built in Ga. The car has the real #62 engine certified by MacNiesh. The guy who owns #62 knows the car is for sale and has chosen not to buy it for personal reasons. So the tribute #62 has some heritage. Block was busted racing or something, anyone know? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif
