L78 Throttle rod

At the forward throttle rod to carb lever attach point the 69 AIM shows a "E" clip securing the rod. Anyone ever see a OE rod with a cotter pin hole there ?

After my E-clip fell off a couple of times, I drilled for a cotter pin.
