Need help decoding the stamping on what I believe to be the original Delco fan blower motor found on my '70.

The code stamped is "788 9 A 293 3". Is this a date code or some sort of internal plant batch code? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/confused.gif

To me,the assembly date for your blower motor on that flange looks like the 293rd day,(Oct.20) of 1969,Line 3,shift A.
Not sure what 788 denotes,the part# is 3929052.

Thank you Rick!

That sure seems to be a long lag time for a 03D of '70 build. This motor must of kept getting pushed to the back of the parts bin, before it was finally used.

BTW this blower motor is from my Fremont built 442 A/C car.

Long yes,but not uncommon, and for the same reason you've given.
I've seen them dated as early as 1 week before,as well as 6 mos.before a cars assembly start date.
...788 might be the batch #. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif
