Anyone have an idea what this is for? Quite sure it is GM, came in a box with other GM stuff. Measures 2"x1"x1 1/2"h. Has "71" & "12" stamped on the base. Looks nos. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o29/70L34/P8180009.jpg

Choke Stove or Choke Pull off for a Q-Jet. Not an expert, but I'd assume the 12 and 71 are production dates??? December 71???

1972 Pontiac (and possibly other GM) V8s. It is the same one as on my 455. It is a one-year part as the mounting posiition in 1972 switched from being perpendicular to the carb to parallel to it in 1972. Different V8s had different thermostatically calibrated coils and different vertical links, as well.
In 1973 they stopped using the choke stove system and went to a hot air tube, instead.

Do I win the prize for guessing the right answer? It is date code correct for my Canadian Firebird from Surrey, B.C.! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif

Actually it was sold new at London Motor Products in London, Ontario but in 1986 the original owner sold it and it wound up in BC from then on. I have the whole thread n the Pontiac section here on the site.
