Have any of you guys used the Chevrolet orange POR-15 on your engines? I picked up a can when I picked up the black we are using on the frame of our Corvette. Just wanted to see how it is holding up in real world use?

Also interested to see photos of POR15 engine paint.

Thanks

POR Chevy orange looks good, and works well. We spray it over dp 74 red oxide primer.
If Fred posts pics of his COPO project. That's what it looks like on the motor.

After you fire the motor, and it gets the heat cycle cure, it dulls down to a nice flat sheen.

I shoot it through an old Binks 7 and thin it just a touch with laquer thinner. Do not let it set in the gun very long.

The headers are coated with about 4 coats of VHT, each heat cured inbetween coats. I don't know how long they will last. This was a plan "B" after we had issues with the set we had planned on useing.
Personally, I like the finish better than the ones we had powder coated. JMHO.

I like the paint finish better also but not sure how long it will last. Looking good Mayor! How about some of the car Fred.

Mine looked like that on the L79. I didn't cure them between coats. They sure don't look like that now after the first start up. More of a brown white. LOL...

Maybe curing them in a oven is the secret to holding the color.

Fred, can you please post more photos? Maybe one of how the motor looks post dulling period?

How well does the paint hold up?

Thats why I don't use POR 15. It is a pain to clean up. If it gets on your skin you wear it for a couple of weeks. I have used the Por orange and it does dry real flat.

That's why God made latex gloves.

Have you guys tried the Tech Line colorgard white exhaust coating? I am looking at it for the headers?

The gloss is too high on the POR15 paint engines that I've seen. Hopefully it does dull to a more correct level of gloss.

Not sure what the correct level of gloss is...but here's the orange POR15 and white VHT after some burn-in time.
