It does not have the correct 3916234 COPO posi unit as listed.
Look at the picture that shows the internals of the posi unit.
The spring plates have oval holes, not the correct round holes for the c-clips.
Look at the axle gear teeth and where the axle gear seats against the clutch plates.
The teeth are too small and the axle gear has a flange where it seats against the clutch plate, which is not correct.

Just to be clear now, after a few phone calls.

What about the stamp?

Unfortunately I can't toss out an opinion on that stamp because I don't have one to overlay the picture with and I haven't seen the rear in person.
I also do not have that date in my database as a valid assembly date.

The letters would need to be inspected with a loupe for verification or compared to a valid known stamp of the same date.

I was just pointing out that the carrier is able to be identified as a standard unit and not a COPO posi unit.

If it is a real housing with that date, it will be a prize for somebody even without the original r&p or carrier.

It has a standard filler plug too.

What's unique about the BE filler plug?

"BL" rearends have been known to be fudged into BE but are usually obvious if checked closely.

The BE filler plug is not special. It is just a standard, flanged posi filler plug.
The picture shows a standard non-flanged fill plug for an open rear end.

I try and learn something new every day. I never knew there was a difference in plugs, Thanks.

Great. thanks for the info. I didn't realize the plugs were different between posi and open. Would they both be 12 bolt? What was the flange for? To secure the posi tag?

There are seven different fill plugs if I remember correcly.
The open rear plugs did not have a flange between the head and threads.
The posi plugs had a flange between the head and the threads to hold the posi tag.
Here goes,
Early from 65 to 68 These had large plug threads and a square boss drive (I think the same size as the Corvettes).
Midddle from 68 to somewhere in 70. These had smaller threads and a square boss head.
Later 70 to ?. These had small threads and a hex socket drive.
Still later ?. These had a square socket drive and no flange. The posi tags should be metal and attached to a cover bolt.

Please, if somebody sees and error, post a correction. Going from memory and trying to stay awake. Not a cooperative combination.

Also, I am fairly sure that the 10-bolt and 12-bolt are interchangeable for the same year.

If there were multiple BE rears at Carlisle i cannot comment, however i do know for sure that the one BE rear that i saw at Carlisle this past Oct was bought by another SYC member - it was stamped 0306 if i recall correctly.

any more opinions on the stamp? i have a good friend that is looking to buy this, but like most of us, is looking for some confirmation of the stamp.. It does seem odd that this date has not shown up before, but then again, we learn something everyday.

I believe this is the rear shows that shows up at all of the local swap meets priced around $3,000. I would stay away personally.

I saw that rear end and know the seller. It was the real deal but the internal parts he had with it were standard 12 bolt parts.
