Hey guys, I know this has been discussed before but i couldnt find any pics or good info on some day 2 hood scoops. Ive got a 68 rs camaro, the problem im running into is my intake is to tall (427 with a single plain team g) right now im running a 4" cowl, i want more of a vintage look. What would you do?
Ultimatly what i would like to do is find a day 2 hood scoop or even a grumpy jenkins scoop. Does anyone have any pics of a grumpy scoop on their car? (ive seen vintage grumpy pics) or any other day 2 scoops? Even a nickey, yenko or dana hood, If it would give me more clearance than a stock cowl (my stock cowl hood wont fit with the single plane)
Thanks much!!
Matt

Nobody re-produces the Grump Lump #15643 (accurately that is) that Ive seen. Speedway has one called "GM Scoop" (http://www.speedwaymotors.com/GM-Style-Fiberglass-Hood-Scoop-33-x-20-x-7-Inch,1398.html) that's the closest to it. I have one I bought for my straight-axle Nova, but it just didn't look right for the car. I can put some pictures up of it although I don't have any Camaros to set it on. I've been passively looking for a "period" style scoop for some time now and nobody seems to have any interest in making the older-style scoops (as I imagine it's a limited market)...

Here my COPO back in the day with a Moroso style a little bit taller than the normal 9" high instead of 7" http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp198/SPIKEYZ0/72164896-SLD-001-0018.jpg

You should seriously consider changing the intake manifold to a dual plane GM or Edelbrock Performer RPM. I've had every intake manifold imaginable on every size BBC and when it comes to a street car, a nice aluminum high-rise dual plane is tough to beat. Then you can put the stock hood back on without the hassle of having to get a new one painted and the car will probably be faster.

I am still partial to the stinger hood.

I am also partial to the L88 hood for the Camaro. They have a lots of clearance, plenty of nostalgic looks, and looks "tough".
You could add a stinget top if you need more than the L88 offers, kinda like how Morion did the Vettes.
