There is a thread over at the Garage Journal I always check on "what did you do in you garage today?". Given the fact there is some really nice work that occurs among the members of this site, I thought I throw the idea against the wall to see if it sticks.

I'll lead off with the 65 Corvette I have owned for many years. Today, I changed out the spark plug wires, cleaned up the exhaust manifolds, and pulled the carb to send it out to Eric.

I have just picked up my 2nd set of Ralleys for my T/A. Had the rims powdercoated and fitting the correct [ as far as I know] 70 caps and new rings.

Got the dash carrier back in with restored tach & clock. Also, fed it a CHQ dash pad (fits like a glove). Lots more on the "list" for this car before Spring! Merry Christmas to all!!!

Moved the cars around so I can pull the dash out of the 37 and get the permanent module installed to eliminate the ABS fault I was getting in the GTO instrument cluster that I installed when building the car a couple of years ago.....
For the new guys here, ....here is a quick story on the 37 build.......after building the car with a complete 2006 GTO LS2 drivetrain....I decided to install the GTO Gauge cluster at the same time........not knowing the complexity of getting it to work.....but after using Daves (I'm Rare) expertise in wiring....we were able to get the cluster to be pretty much fully functional......except for that nagging ABS fault (as the computer was looking for input from the wheel speed sensors).....So....after driving the car for a year I was contacted by a member of the LS1Tech site and after following the build on that site and thinking about it......he thought he had it figured out......now....remember....we had the ECM.....BCM......and the PIM...(Computer guy talk) installed , but we were only using parts of the modules that were required to get the cluster to receive the information it needed......so....I didn't have much faith in a guy in California being able to sort thru my pieced together system and getting the fault to go away......
So.....I recieved a module that Eric made that plugged into the OBD plug......Bingo.....Fault gone......I was happy that it was gone and now the cluster was fully functional with the DIC switch just as a stock GTO........even the Oil change reminder still works....everything.....But .....Eric didn't like the plug in the OBD port....so.....he made up a small circuit board and plug assy that will be hard wired into the PIM .......now, if I have a problem on the road I can pull into any GM dealer and using the ODB port they can plug in and get any codes that would be in the system as a stock GTO.......
So,.....while the dash is out, I am going to paint the steering column and add a LeCarra 40's style steering wheel for more of a Retro look......

I really like the car Ken. IMHO* the mid 30's-40's Ford V8's are some of the best styled cars ever built.

*I may be slightly biased since my dad collects and restores them. He has a photo of me at approx 3 years old taking apart interior trim. I have my blanket, errr I mean my First Shop Rag in tow! LOL

(Someday I am going to build a 36 Ford Roadster, mid 50's style Hotrod with a stroked Lincoln flat head, tuck and roll, Finned Aluminum Buick drums etc)

I borrowed the wife's fabric tape measure and measured the two dozen random fan belts I have in a pile. I then sorted them by length and width. They ranged from 40.25 inches to 60.25 inches in circumference.

Yes, it's a slow day around here. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif

Then the kids and I took the Firebird out for a ride to get the mail.

And the power steering belt started squeeling.

It must be thinking I was going to fire it and install a new one.

Hey napa68,

I have the exact twin to your car sitting in my garage and it is on jack stands too! It too is a side exhaust 365 horse Milano Maroon coupe. Beautiful car you have there.
