ABOVE IS LINK TO ABOUT 50 PICS

Ok, way too much to list here so I will just touch on the basics. I have been building cars for over 30 years and used to know what I was doing. I am looking for someone who understands what it is and doesn't think they can buy a rusty EBAY shell and build this for $10k.

Car has all original sheetmetal with only one 5x5 patch in the pass footwell. 1/4's have small lip patches. Otherwise all original.

It was built to be what GM would have built if they sold a lite weight street race model. All the mods are done with period correct parts or with modified GM parts. It was a clip off resto with more new clips and bolts then I can remember.

Paint is new and made to look old. It has fooled everyone who has seen it especially since it is dusty. I have had Camaro guys stare at this thing for an hour not understanding where the parts came from or why theirs is different.

Some mods:

Fake battery (hand formed metal) that is actually cool can. (shipper tried jumping till cover fell off.
Bowtie stamped fenderwells
bowtie stamped wiper delete
monte carlo bar
spring loaded hood pins
stamped heater delete firewall (no bolt on0
hidden vac can for cam
wiring delete
hood latch delete
wiper delete
door vent block offs
dash glove box and vents delete
factory looking rear seat delete
radio delete
door panel delete ( factory upper upholstery with all holes plugged)
factory looking seat harness mounts
adjustable seat back braces
period correct diamond pattern seats mounted on factory adjusters
factory looking rear lid pin system
factory looking trunk mtd battery set up (needs tar topper) rubber mounted additional clips
factory looking tire squirters for killer burn outs, look at detail in lines and can mounting, I have template for custom GM "Traction Master" label for real OEM look
Factory looking cut off with led hidden in bowtie
etc, etc, etc

Engine is low mile fully built 427 that ran 12.40's in a fully loaded car (this car is a lot lighter and better suspension) . Autogear tranny, centreforce, Lakewood shield, New 9" rear (yeah I know) Engine sounds nasty at idle with NOS Thrush mufflers. No used junk. Look at the wiring and hose routing.

Everything is new mechanically. Brakes are drums but again every clip is new and they have expensive Porterfield shoes that will stop like discs. Custom Landrum springs, fake Hurst shocks, etc, etc. All new weatherstrip, gas tank, etc, etc

Ok I know you either get it or not. I do not want to sell but I am going on 3rd spine surgery and car has is not going on a drive anytime soon as my neck can't handle the ride. PLEASE NO BS !!!!

Care needs windshield, headliner (I would delete) some small trim (under$100), final go through and tune. Paint is 3-4 years old and body is straight.

I hope the link to the pics works? If not email and I will send. asking $22k which considering the drivetrain is a fair deal. I know what cars and parts cost as I have been in the industry for years. I am moving and would like to sell before the move otherwise it gets packed away for my kids.

Located in Poway Ca. PM for contact info if SERIOUS! I am serious seller.

Cool car.

Hmmm...

Sounds familiar.

can't quite grip the 'paint is new, made to look old' concept. I like the build and love a good day 2 car, as your is. Guess that's what you mean by 'you either get it or you don't'...just never seen anybody do this before

will somebody buy that car and leave it as is?

This was a hard car to list for sale as the description could be 2 pages long. I have to pull it out and wash it up and clean up the interior. It sat for about a year without a cover. It looks a lot better in real life.

As far as the concept, I was tired of show cars. The idea was to build a car that GM would have build as a concept car directed at street racing. I was going to go so far as to have a fake ID tag and stamp the engine vin. Most of the block off plates were also getting stamped "Race Only" I had started to make GM labels for the parts I made.

The reason the paint was done that way was it was to look like say a barn find. If I painted it perfect and made everything perfect nobody would have bought it. The stickers are NOS but can come right off. I was also toying with the idea of lettering the car up with worn painted lettering.

Think how excited everbody gets when pics are posted of that ultra rare barn find. I have maybe had it outside 2xs when in NY and it will draw a crowd in front of my house with people stopping asking to buy it as they think they just found something special. I thought I would keep the car but life changes and it is time for it to get used not sit in a garage. It is meant to be beat the sh@t out of and put away wet. It would only look better the more worn it gets like an old leather jacket.

It will get cleaned up and thrown on EBAY or go to auction lettered as a vinatage race car. Hoe someone who appreciated it gets it as at the price it isn't about the money. Clean shells go for $8k Price an Autogear tranny? Built 427, etc, etc.

Thanks for the comments
Brian

$18,000 ANY OFFERS???? I know bad pics and hard sale for limited audience.

Heck, paint it and you are still way ahead of the game. Body is straight and was done right not just for quick flat paint.

Not sure what FASHIZZEL is but if it sells the car what the heck. Hey, people love stories and I gave then one. It was easiest way to explain inspiration behind car.

I tried to get every tag in there that I would search if I was looking for that type of car, got your attention so it worked now hit the button.

I like the car, the BIN seems fair & that's why I brought it back to the top. But, why make up 'the story'. If it's listed as a race car (or if it has a real 427/L88), I'd prefer to know how fast it is or engine componant facts. Instead of 'engine needs to be tuned and drive train set up/re tighten suspension'. Left me wondering if it's a street/strip car now or just a roller. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

I really like the car. I like just about everything about it. I would have liked to have seen a Dana 60 or Olds diff instead of the Ford unit. I like it!

Points well taken and I just threw it on there to see what happens. It is a plain old 427 that has a nice camshaft and some nice internals. Like I noted in auction I have lost most of my paperwork on the car so I don't want to give specifics I can't document. It is a fairly fresh engine that was running 12:40's in a much heavier car with stock suspension and street tires.

I don't know why it cam up as race car as EBAY just took the first few words and used it as the title. I tried to change and I can't.

There is a red car that is going for $11k on EBAY and this car was a lot cleaner original car to begin with. Never mind all the work and drivetrain. People love projects as they always think they can do it better cheaper.

I am going to let auction run then get some good pics and a better description and sell the car. It is a shame it is just sitting around.
