Its good they post the VIn as I am sure this one will cross the block at an Auction next year.
We know the hood won't rust. Certainly worth the current bid of $20,000 +. It looks like it was a well done car before the damage.

With the very hard to stop salt water from rusting untouchable areas in mind, what if the car was stripped, then dipped? Would the dipping not get rid of the salt deposits? I understand you then have the potential dipping issues, but still....

I believe that car is from around here. It is gone. Rust so bad you could put a screwdriver throgh almost any part of it with very little pressure.
Is is a Katrina car. I think it has been on craigslist from baton rouge lately, for way less than the 20k. I seem to remember 12k?

You would have to get it apart and into maybe a body dip to neutralize everything then Ecoat it?
I am thinking that a high dollar classic could be saved and would if documented during the refurb be a fine car.
Every single electrical item would need to be replaced or completely disassembled, rewound, new brushes etc etc. No stone could be left unturned, but Yenko, Copo, W30 conv, Judge Conv, TA conv the numbers justify it...

The OAI Olds hoods are actually fiberglass over a metal structure and will rust (badly); it's possible to replace the metal structure but leads to this (not mine - but I believe sets the record for most pairs of Vise-Grips in use at one time)

Or you can just buy a repro from Thornton.

Rich,
Are you sure this is the same car. The ad specifically says, "Sandy".

No, but cant be too many flood w30 cars out there. I would not doubt someone either bought it to flip, or bought it and got scared.
