I have been searching for a specific 69 Nova street machine (straight axle and all) that used to run around here in Nebraska in the 70s and 80s. I have had multiple conversations with the original builder and he found the VIN for the car. He gave me the VIN to try and help find it. The VIN was supposed to be run through Nebraska DMV but there were no results. The car possibly left the state in the 80s. Does anyone have the ability to find the last registered owner even if in another state? We do not know where it went from here. I was lucky enough to receive help with this once when I found dads old Z.
Thanks in advance ofr any help.

I only have 1 picture I have had saved forever. I did a post titled long shot, info wanted, 69 Nova street machine back in November. I am doing this off my phone right now so I can't copy the link to that post or the picture in it. All leads from that posting have failed but since Larry found the VIN hopefully we can get some new leads. It was a magazine feature car, pearl white with white vinyl top, tunnel ram on a 427. If I ever get time I am going to get together with him and go through all his photo albums from building the car.

Apparently this car came up some time ago on Steves Nova Site. Anyone have any leads for us? I see the pictures are from one of the features it was in.

I called Nebraska, South Dakota and Colorado DMVs today hoping I could request title information but since I do not own it I am out of luck. I haven't had any luck in finding someone who can run the VIN so in desperation I called a private investigator. He said he can run it so I'm keeping my fingers crossed he can find something, anything.

if he can't come up with anything its no charge so I didn't think I had anything to lose?
Other than typing the VIN in Google (which I tried <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif ) is there something else on there I can try?

I found it. When I called a number I found for the last registered owner his dad answered. I explained the car I was searching for, specifically the pearl white & straight axle, he confirmed yes they have it and to call his son tonight. Last registered in 2002. I have no other details on the current condition so the suspense is killing me.

That's great you found car.. Did you find it through the private investigator or your own detective work?

PI never got back to me. A friend got the info for me. I did some net searching for the last owner and a lucky phone call to a number I found was all. Finally, after all these years, my wondering and searching is done. I'm praying it still has the straight axle under it or if he swapped frames he kept the one Larry built.

Just got off the phone with the current owner. Not only did the car survive but it is "as built" from Larry in the 70s. The vinyl top was coming loose so it was removed and the roof was polished. He still has the bias ply tires he took off the back 20 something years ago. I don't know if I can ever add this to my garage but I'm thrilled it survived basically untouched. He is going to send me some pictures, Ill post them when I get them

I never had anything to do with this car. I just had some pictures forever and always wondered what happened to it.
Here's the pictures I had:

I know the 427 was pulled before Larry sold it, I believe he said that went into a custom Vette he did which is now in Australia. The current owner still has the old bias ply tires he took off the back, he didn't like how it drove versus the radials. It's not a perfect car by any means but something about this car just does it for me. I still can't believe it survived. I made it very clear I would like to own it if he decides to let it go. Hopefully some day I can bring it home. What are thoughts on value if it comes up for sale?

OK, I'll be brave (or crazy) and throw a couple figures atcha....$15K - $18K range. Obviously has a lot of sentimental value to you, but otherwise a fairly small audience for that type of vehicle. Pretty cool though, something I can relate to... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/cool.gif

Current condition of this car I would say it would be tough to bring anything over 10K.

I'm praying if it comes up for sale its below 10k. Anyone else want to guess on value? I just talked with Larry and described the pictures to him. He actually sold it as a roller for $3500 back in the early 80's. The 350 came after he sold it. The steering wheel, center console and shifter are not what he had in the car either. I forwarded the pictures to him so we can figure out what would need to be redone to be "correct" for when he built it. Fortunately he still has the photo albums he did during the build.

unless it was a total rotten rust bucket underneath, I'd say 10g is a great price. nice 80's street machine <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/headbang.gif
