Been looking at a 69 chevelle ss with a 427 4 speed & a 410 rear end owner wants to sale not the original drive train. Its an old drag car.How can I tell if this was a yenko or copo chevelle is there any thing to look for.Are the vin numbers all known for this year. Thanks
whats the rear end code
edit:..I see drive train is missing..rear too?
build date?
plant?
trim tag info?
all this will help identify what the car is or maybe is.....
It's Hard to tell looks to be KO Or KQ Owner says it is a 410 limited slip Going to go and look at car again in the morning so I wanted to get as much information before i go and see him again.thanks
KQ is COPO only 4.10 gear <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif ..get a good pic of the trim tag...look for 3/8 fuel line, no return..no piercing in the rear tail panel..Malibu strip on the dash..malibu door emblems
That's interesting information where these cars badged as a 427 the dash on passenger side says ss the steering wheel says ss. the rear panel above bumper has an ss insert paint may be original but very thin and worn. no Ac, bucket seats & no console I will check the trim tag and take a picture also the fuel line thanks.

No COPO Chevelles or Camaros were marked with 427 emblems from the factory. I do believe some have been found with SS interior trim pieces though.
Rear filler would have been black like an SS however there would be no SS emblem, side SS emblems would also be omitted. If the original fenders are there they would have no piercings for SS emblems nor CUI call outs.

Very true, but these cars are 40+ years old and COPO Chevelles would have an ss hood and most likely people would have added the emblems thinking they were filled in or forgotten. How many Yenkos and COPO's got Z-28 emblems over the years?

Brian, I Agee.....if left abandoned....most people did not know what they were.....I can see someone easily added emblems to a little ole Malibu.
