I have 2 of the 142 manual boxes with aluminum tops that both came off 70's. One off the convertible, the other off that Atlanta car I have in there now. I also had one with an aluminum top that came off a 69 6 cylinder car that I gave to Ray a few years ago.

Check the date codes that are stamped on the machined pad on the edge of the covers.

My 67 has the fill hole in the cover. The top box is 69/70 style

They are Julian dated.
The top one was cast the 328th day of the year and the stamp on the machined tab has a number which is the machining or assembly date 1 letter 4 numbers. The first being a letter (plant code?), next 3 being the Julian date, the last 8 or 9 being the year in which it was assembled. Julian will probably be within a few days of the casting - 33x 8 OR 33x 9.

Doesn't the f41 package on the SS cars have a quicker ratio? Any way to tell by the numbers an f41 box or just do a lock to lock turn?
