What is everyones opion on this 1970 Chevelle SS 396 Survivor on EBAY he is claiming that that it is a survivor never painted but if you look at the underside shots seems like rear was painted and a X put on the housing like from the factory and there is no smog on the engine. I called the number on the EBAY to talk to him and start asking him about where is the smog and how the underside and rear looked like it was painted and other issues and then he hung up on me. What do all you experts think on this survivor?

Hey Mikey A., isn't this the one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170989440421&ssPageNam e=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123) you called my attention to at the Pavillions a year or so ago? If so, this is a very nice car.

350HP 396 shouldn't have smog equipment. Only solid lifter cars got it in 1970 I believe.

Smog came on California state ordered cars for the 396 350 HP or 454 360 HP or it would not have smog.
The LS6 454 450 HP and L78 396 375 HP always had smog.
Nice car with some wierd options, color combo is a bit strange but rare.

A friend of mine who has had many cars, including many 70 Chevelles, is the prior owner. He kept this one for years as others came and went. No bad surprises on this one, car is what its described to be. Not sure about rearend detail, but car isn't really "fluffed", if that's what you're worried about. At least it wasn't in January when I last saw it at Pavillions.

and they wouldnt be on 70's. 1970 was the first year for the locking motor mount and it also had a throttle cable not a rod, so they wernt needed.
