Can't remember where I read it that someone was applying the original type tread markings (Paint) on reproduction tires.
Anyone remember that? Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Mark
Made my own LEEDS stencil for my own tire & then set it on a turntable, using a lot of paint to squeeze into the tread.
I posted a photo many years ago,but can't find it right now.
What tire/car/year & assembly plant are you looking for?

Mark, is this what you are refering to? These codes can be found in box 93 of the build sheet. I had stamps made for these as well as a turntable to apply them. Note; the stamps were applied before the tire was formed so they go all the way into the tread. VERY time consuming. Code shown is L8DS 1 (used numbers 1-5)

Here is another angle to show what the font looked like.

Thanks for the great pics and info. I'm going to put Kelsey's Goodyear red stripes on my 3rd week May built 69 Camaro. That is, unless I find originals. Seems like Akron is a typically seen plant.

Hello enio45,
It was the code assigned to the tire size and style. It was called out on the broadcast sheet on the bottom of the chassis copy .
The codes were stamped on the rubber before the tire was molded.
