I emailed a guy about a 69 Judge roller he had for sale.He told me the motor and trans were stolen.It turned out that the police found the guys.They were crack heads and sold the motor and trans to a wrecking yard for scrap value.The judge would not take the case to court because the scrap dealer did not put the serial number of the block on the bill.The motor and trans were the original Ram Air III from the Judge! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/cry.gif

There was 7 of us guys had our motors/trans stored in a building. Stole my RA III, a 69 350 HO, a 69 Pontiac 400, and Chryslers motors for a 70 Challenger rag, 69 GTX, 72 RR and a76 Roadrunner. They got $540 from scrap yard. I seen the bill. The crown said there is no way can prove the 7 motors on the trailer are the motors from building w/o serial #’s.

At the very least, you would think a legit, ethical yard would do this, no?

Why dont USA Titles, being a legal document, have engine numbers on them? Its just stupid.Im surprised that the USA DMV dont recognise these issues.Causing your problems that even a court of law cant prove [DOH]

In Aust anyways, All titles show the car's owner details,the model,year, make, VIN AND Engine number. If you remove an engine,you are required to have the engine number inspected at the DMV and a title re-issued with the correct details.
If someone steals your car for the engine,or if another car is re-registered with your engine , even years later, the engine number can be traced.

Hi Dave, all Titles here have the VIN on them, and then the engines have the vin stamped on them as well. It would be a simple thing to prove that engine came from that Judge if it was the original block. However in earlier years there can be some missed stamps maybe this was one? Certinaly there seems to be more to this story.

Here is an example of a pontiac vin stamp on a block:

I've never seen a Pontiac VIN stamp like that before, not even the EUN number - here is a Pontiac VIN stamp in its traditional place down by the timing cover

That was just a pic from a website I googled. I don't know to much about the ponchos. Just saying that most blocks &gt;68 do have the vins stamped so there should be a way to prove that block belongs to that judge, if original.
