Saw a very interesting car on Barrett-Jackson. Uses the term "Paint Code Delete". Is the correct term "Paint Code Delete"? Thought the term would be "Special Paint". <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

This is not the first time I've seen that term, and I'm seeing it more and more lately. Personally, I think it's a misnomer.

I could be wrong but a friend of mine had a L78 Nova that was an odd blue I had never seen on a Nova.I think the GM Canada documentation said "paint delete".I always wondered why someone had never used this option to get a Hugger Orange Nova.

Here is a picture of the trim tag from one of the '70 Chevelles that I have. We consider it "special paint" rather than a paint delete. This particular car is painted a Buick blue.

THIS, (http://www.highperformancepontiac.com/features/hppp_1005_1973_pontiac_trans_am_455/viewall.html) to me, is what "paint delete" is.

That 927 AF-017 code was actually Chevrolet Mulsanne Blue paint code #26.
Aka...LUCITE code #5190L or FISHER code #4069.
It was an RPO color for the '70 Corvette, but had to be a special ordered paint to be on the '70 Chevelle.
Beginning in 1971 to 1972 it was an RPO color.
1973,74 & '75 it became known as code #26 Bright Blue Metallic.
