"Karl Brauer, editor-in-chief of the online car review aggregator Total Car Score, is a self-described muscle car fanatic who characterizes these vehicles as his "primary passion." He provided CNBC.com with his list of 10 classic American muscle cars and some eye-popping estimates of their current market value"

Another reason to put NO FAITH in CNBC reporting.

Karl's 'values' are a bit off. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif

I don't think it's a CNBC issue as much as a general journalism issue - with the Internet, the profession has sunk because everyone and his mom now think they're journalists just because they have a presence online, and for the proper news outlets, they all try to be the first with breaking news, often at the risk of the integrity of the news.

I bought my GTX from Karl in 2010. He owned that car since college around 1985. He's a genuine car guy, prob more so than most journos. Done his days out of college at Petersons HotRod,Carcraft,Edmunds and now TCS. He must have the data to back up the valuations? Maybe he diddnt call BJ or Mecums, but takes the data from insurance companies and general advertised sales, who knows. What I do know is that commission salesmen of the likes of BJ and Mecums etc dont want to hear these types of values! Neither do cocoon investors and high-end flippers- so where do these guys come up with their advertised values? Commission salesman valuations?
I found Karl a good guy , owner of a number of real nice collector musclecars and bikes ,so devaluing them aint doing him any favour, no doubt he'd have access to more data than most.
He's from a family background of musclecar tragics incl his older bros. Heck he even took the GTX on one of the first CC power tours, how many journos would do that?
