Redline Recommendations

Hopefully not a can of worms here but I need advice. The Coker F70s on my Camaro are ten years old and I'm thinking of replacing them. Are today's Cokers better than the older ones? The ones on there are a bit** to keep clean and seem hard as a rock (30 psi cold). Is there a better belted-look redline out there now? Universal Vintage Tire has F70 redlines in a Goodyear tire I think. Also considering a redline radial. Thoughts?

Car hunts all over the freeway with the Cokers on there now.

----Coker now has Goodrich 14 inch radial TA redlines. I have a set on my GP and they are by far way better than anything with the name Coker on it. Im seeing them all over the place lately so Im not the only one that likes them. Im not sure, but I think that Coker is the only outlet for them.....Bill S

Hi there!

I can help you out on the Goodyear side of things. All Goodyears come from Kelsey Tire (exclusive distributor).

As for Goodrich T/A Redstripes, they do come from Coker.

Another option is Diamondback Tire. They smooth a sidewall on a new radial and Vulcanize a stripe on. Different ways to skin a cat.

I just bought some BF Goodrich Silvertown radial goldlines for my 65 Corvette. Got them from Universal Tire. They have 14 inch radials in a red line. Go here: www.universaltire.com. (http://www.universaltire.com) I debated whether to go with bias ply but in the end went with the radial cause I am going to drive the car some. If I was going the bias ply route I would definitely go thru Rusty/Kelsey Tire. I did buy some E70 X 14 Firestone bias ply redlines from Coker a few months ago for my
survivor 68 Nova SS. I wanted Goodyear but as I remember Kelsey's 14 inch redline was not correct for my year, or maybe I should say they don't produce a redline that is correct for my year. My original spare is a Firestone redline so that pretty much drove the decision. I must say that the Coker Firstone bias ply's do ride pretty good for a bias ply tire. Much better than I thought they would. Just my .02 before taxes.

The Goodyears I have had on our 66 Vette are actually better handling (at least to me) than the goldline Coker radials.......Bill S

Universal is getting their radials from Coker. Any Firestone, BFG come from Coker. All Goodyears come through Kelsey.
Lucas tire, Wallace Wade, and a couple of others are out there. When you are looking at ther colored sidewall T/A, you are looking at the same tire, just a different group of people to deal with.

Thanks for that bit of info. I did not realize that, but it does make sense. I am going to be in touch with you hopefully in the near future for some Goodyear redlines for another car.

We have the BFG Silvertown Red Line radials on Karen's 69 Camaro...very nice tires...got them thru Vintage. We also have the redline Diamond Back tires on your 68 Butternut Yellow BB Nova..they are Firestone Indy 500's...excellent tires.

816-654-3400 Just a word about those Diamond backs you mentioned.Years ago I ordered a set of four of those tires and two of them blew the sidewall out airing up on the mounting machine.No way in hell I would ever use that product.

Thanks for the input everybody! I am leaning toward the BFG T/A redline in a 225-70. The Coker F70x14's specs list as 26.2&quot; tall, 8.3&quot; section width and a 6.7&quot; tread. The 225 T/A lists as 26.3&quot; tall, 9.0&quot; section and a 6.7&quot; tread. (Yeah, that's just what's listed and reality could be slightly different.) Since I love driving my Camaro, especially on the freeway for long periods, the T/A sounds like a good choice.
