6.6 inches of water here within 10 hours...3 surrounding townships declared an emergency.
Had to drive on the sidewalk to get to work.
I was the only one who showed up @ work...Snow day!

I saw they closed 55th Street (east of Fairview I think) - thought that might have affected you Rick.....sounds like many other areas are pretty bad too.

I woke up last thursday morning with a foot of water in my basement. First time the basement flooded. Took me 14 hours to pump water out. Well got up friday morning with the same problem. Thank godness the room with all my car stuff in it didnt have a drop of water in it.

its pretty bad out where I live (30 miles west of downtown in the burbs), fox river is out over its banks more than I ever have seen, neighbors are sand bagging around their houses, some have lost the fight. My neighbor with a 6 pack 70 charger already relocated the car as it would have been up in the interior by now. I live up on a ridge, but many do not. Its pretty bad. and the fox river is still rising.

Finally landed in Chicago yesterday after three cancelled flights from Orlando, FL. I had been hearing news stories but was totally shocked to see what it looked like from the air. The pilot came on and stated that we were getting ready to land and I thought no way as this looks like northern Canada with all the wetlands. Turns out we were flying 35 miles west of Chicago. Streets flooding all around Chicago. I would have loved to have photographed it but due to the number of people on board and me getting to the gate as they were closing the door meant my carry on had to be checked.

Was in town (Rosemont) for meetings. As we looked out of the building Mgrs.office window on Brynn Mawr, we could literally watch as the water was rising, and it had already reached to driveway area of the Hyatt. The parking structure across the street was already closed, with about a foot of water on the ground level and N. River and all surrounding streets were closed down.

Luckily, I was able to "escape" and hit 294 and head out. Hoping the water subsides and all who are dealing with this mess are OK.

Be safe up there and be safe along the rivers south of there as well, Here in Cape Girardeau Mo, they are predicting a 43 foot river crest on the Mississippi, so all the flooding is going south, everyone be safe

Man that's a sad situation. Lots of folks down here have some short-term Lakefront Property too.

More rain coming our way Tuesday. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/frown.gif

Gene's & Jude's area always floods when excessive rain hits.
No surpise...they sit lower then the Des Plaines river.
I have one taken there in August 1987....That was a monsoon.
