This is crazy.I've had this 454 which I've called an LS6 now for 30 years.
Somebody recently called me on it,saying it's not.So I'm just trying to figure this out. This is all I have at this point,'till I pick the motor up and remove the front cover, actually the Motor mount, motor is in A 1972 Sanger Boat.

Fusky,

A 3999289 is a block probably cast the after the 1970 model year run for a 454 or 427. Could be a Warranty (CE) LS-6 if it has 4 bolt mains. Look @ the casting date and any #'s on the starter pad. An LS-6 had a "512" cast block. I hope this helps.

if it has 4-bolt mains it is an LS6 "over-the-counter" or "warranty" or "call it whatever you like"

Some LS7 crate engines had this casting number too. 4-bolt is the key in I.D.
