Can one of you "Camaro Gurus" please help with info on parts/process required to add the Rally Sport package to an existing 69 SS Camaro. Karen wants to upgrade the look...I suppose a 396 will be next <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif

thanks..Wilma

**we did add the 140 speedo and tach with console gauges earlier...so that stuff is in place.

maybe rethink this whole process and buy a nice low horse BB RS car? Explain to Karen that she may get more for her car now before you convert everything to a RS BB. Alot of parts and labor to do this correctly IMO Tommy. Besides, I thought the Professor dialed you in about this conversion a couple years ago. His opinion is still golden in my book on this. What is with the 140 speedo?

A lot of work to do the change over an RS Tom. Keep in mind not only an extensive makeover on the front end but the back end of an RS has the backup lights mounted within the lower valence panel. Ofcourse they make templates for this but you may be be running a different wiring harness and such. And don't forget new RS tail light lenses. HBC sells a front end '69 Camaro conversion kit for about $850 and that doesn't get you the grill and necessary hardware...by the way HBC has a pair of GM NOS RS fenders for a '69 and the whopping price of $4500. Think it over Tom--a lot goes into changing over. Much easier finding a true RS and starting from there. Hope this helps!

Like Sal said, cutouts in the rear valance for the backup lights, different rear tailights, several mods to the inner fenderwells. Approx two inch hole for the bell cranks (or whatever they are called), couple holes for the bolts that mount the bell cranks, a few holes for the vacume tank, don't know if those mods could be done on the car but possible. Bracket needs welded on the inside of each of the fenders, brackets are sold repo. Not sure if that would damage the paint. Different grill and all the RS hardware. The repo RS hardware isn't bad as repo goes. Big job but RS look is awesome.

The 69 RS fenders are different. That would be a pita to address.

The differences in the fenders are the brackets that would have to be welded on the inside forward lip (brackets are available repo) and the different holes for the Ralleysport script if you were to make it 100% correct. You would also have to fill the old holes for the Camaro script and SS script if it were a SS. I've converted cars to Ralleysports but never a done car that was painted.

The 69 fender adapters used to not be available, only 67-8. I see they are common now.

I second the comment to find a original RS and go from there. I don't care how good you do a conversion a good eye can spot a conversion fake. That may not be important to you though. I just bought a real x66 big block convertible original drive train non RS car and I can't tell you how many butchered up non RS cars that i looked at to find this car. It was refreshing to find an honest car.
