In the process of setting up my new shop after moving from NH to Tennessee I am finding stuff I packed away many years ago and forgot I had. I have a pretty large collection of old tins that had been packed away in boxes for a LONG time and I used to stash cool stuff in them from time to time. Opened up a tobacco can and found these... They are NOS Corvette console engine spec tags. One for an LT-1 and 2 ZL-1 tags. With only 2 Vettes being built I'm guessing there's no demand other than the "cool factor" but I have to believe they must be super rare and have some value. This is NOT a for sale thread and I have already checked with the boss and this is where he advised me to put this thread. Unless these are worth stupid money I'll probably just display them with my other "junk" like my NOS 426 hemi & 440 sixpack hood emblems. What I did find interesting was that the LT-1 tag like all the other engine options, lists the horsepower, torque & compression ration but the ZL-1 tag does not. Must have been trying to keep it a secret.. LoL Well hell.. the pic ain't working. Is this one of those joints that you need to pay up or know the secret handshake or have a minimum number of posts to add pics ?

I sold one on ebay a few years back. It sold for around $125. I wish I kept it because that's where my ZL1 engine is going..... in a 1969 Corvette.

Hey Lynn good to see ya over here. Charlie I'll try that next time. I had already uploaded the pic to photobucket when I saw your post. Nice to see some familiar faces over here. I don't get here much as you can see from my post count.

Bill Porterfield told me a funny story years ago. When he was in the thick of ZL1's he found that same ZL1 console emblem was still available from Chevrolet but there was a certain low # of them in the system total so he bought them all. The system then automatically saw they were out of product so it ordered another batch to be made. There are plenty of them out there.

Peter Miglin of Motor Sport Research gave me a box full of Corvette console plates, (ZL-1, L-88. LT-1, LS-7. & L-71) back in the early 80's before they became Pro Motor Engineering & Bob Olson, Peter & the crew moved down to Moorseville, North Carolina to build Stock Car engines.
I gave my ZL-1 plate to Roger Judski, the owner of the Yellow ZL-1 about 5 years ago @ Bloomington Gold in St. Charles Illinois.
My Son & I met him early on Saturday morning @ the Special Collection so we could take pictures of him in the car and get Roger to Autograph the ZL-1 book my son has. He is a great guy, & I told him if anyone deserved the N.O.S. ZL-1 console plate it was him.

Ha, he triggered the safety stock reorder point, and diluted the value! The best intentions, <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif

I think it was HAL9000 that ordered them, people knew they were cool and HAL ordered new ones all the time when the stock were low.
