One of my local car buddies stopped by today to visit. He has an interesting collection of cars...mostly original survivor type muscle. He was driving one today that you don't see too often...a 1966 Impala SS Convertible with the big dog motor...427/425hp!
The driveline is all original...car had one repaint years back...very cool. Car was sold new right here in upstate NY...enjoy!

Now thats what Im talking about, love it love it love it. I suppose he leaves the dog dish caps off so he wont loose one? 1966 B-Bodies are my favorite and that one would look just fine next to my Belair.

Big car muscle...... Luv it.

Ron, the original owner of Tin Soldier was telling me about when he worked for GM, he lined the 409's into the 65 Impala's.

Besides the L72 car he has an original W31 Olds, 71 Dodge Challenger 340, 72 Monaco Orange Corvette, 66 Dodge Coronet, 66 Tri-Power GTO...and ready for this: a real 440 Dart

----Just my humble opinion, but I think the 66 Impala/Caprice console with guages is the best console design,,,,,ever! Very cool 'Vert.......Bill S

Beautiful.

If we are getting picky, shouldn't that car have black wheels for full wheel covers? To my knowledge, dog dish caps weren't available with the SS package on full size cars. I thought you had to have SS covers, or one of the optional (wire / simulated mag) full wheel covers?

It needs whitewalls. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/wink.gif

Beautiful car. I was at a show this past weekend here in Renton (Seattle area) and there was a twin to this, black on black on black, '66 L72 Convertible. I'm a big fan of full size muscle. Love it!

NEAT car. Love it. Bill, I agree about the console. Great design. Haven't seen one of those in years.

Anyone knows how many they made in this configuration.

Can't be that many 'Verts with L72 and 4-Speed.

Nice Impala Tom. I guess it would need a 425 hp. 427 to move that car... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif

All that's known is that there was 1,856 factory L72's in 1966. There wasn't a breakdown by body type.
