The Muscle Car Of The Week is this stunning 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 XL that becomes more interesting the more you look. You will first notice the subdued color called Coventry Gray, and it was never offered on the Ford Galaxie for 1966. It is a specially ordered Mercury color, making this the only one ever built! And while they made many Galaxie 500 XL models, there were less than 50 that came with the R-Code 427 V8 under the hood. Boasting 425 hp, the R-Code 427 breathed through dual four barrel carburetors and churned a four speed manual transmission. This might not look like a race car, but it seemed to be built for the dragstrip. We love the juxtaposition of luxury and power, making this a wolf in banker's clothing!

Thanks for the kind words, we're glad you like the videos! Our production schedule did not allow much time to drive them around, but we'll put in running shots of what we have. We'll be sure to shoot more in future videos. More to come!!

Please make it an hour show, I will watch every minute, that way you have lots of time for high speed passes:-)

These are great cars, very uncommon. I had one go through my hands 10 or 15 years ago. A red on black R-code LTD 2 door hardtop, which is a real odd pairing of luxury and performance. It was in Renton, WA and I helped get it to a collector named Dennis Lempicki in Wisconsin. Dennis had a bunch of 60's performance Galaxies. He died somewhat suddenly and all the cars were sold in an estate auction. The unrestored LTD-R code was sold and I've not seen or heard of it since. If anyone has info on this car's whereabouts, I'd love to hear about it. (I'm not that excited about being old enough now to have a list of "the ones that got away", lol)
