OMG... it looks like the one that sat at the Greenville Spartanburg Airport back in the late 80's - early 90's back then it was already sun faded and had door dings all down both sides, everyday driver for an older woman.

Looks alot like one locally to me. driven hard and neglected. sits in a car port with a smashed 1/4 panel... I always wanted one, along with a Cyclone and a Typhoon... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif

And the guy thinks he offering such a great deal; I don't know what they're selling for in restored condition but I bet you'd have to invest a ton into this car.

Cool car and I'm glad SOMEONE out there used this car as intended: As a driver that you'll be king of the streets with all with Buick class!

I agree you'd be better off spending 70-80 for a primo zero mileage car, rather than having 60k++ in this one.

I don't think this is sad. The original owner bought it and used it. It has lasted over 25 years and now it's time for the next guy. It probably looks like many high performance late 60s muscle cars did when this car was new. It is a 1987 after all.

What is pictured in picture #10? If it wasn't so expensive it would be a neat car to "repair" and make a clean daily driver out of. Maybe mini tub it or something. Didn't Jay Leno have one of these on his show a few years ago in a burnout contest against one of Tim Allens hotrods?

I think what you're seeing in picture #10 is the special rear end cover that the GNX's had.

And I see they're making a comeback in 2015 Car & Driver (http://www.caranddriver.com/features/2015-buick-grand-national-and-gnx-25-cars-worth-waiting-for-20142017-future-cars)

----I dont know about used. It appears more to be abused. We have all seen plenty of cars with 75,000 miles (and more) that are way better condition than this. My 94 beater Caprice wagon has 130,000 on it and still looks way better than this Buick.......Bill S

I appreciate a car that's driven as they all shouldn't be trailer or garage queens, but that thing's been beat. Drive it, great, but don't beat the carp out of it, and at least wash it occasionally.
Great car, but I'd only consider a much better kept one for more money. Or, you could always find a nice '89 Turbo T/A with the GN motor. Those actually seem to go for reasonable money these days, considering their availability/rarity.

No. Jay used a red 8 second full GN (Not a GNX)race car owned by Ken Detweiller for that contest.

I like it. It has some history, something most of these cars sorely lack. Years ago there was a guy named Buddy Cox that campaigned a real GNX in the old 5.0 vs. GN shootouts. I'd take that car, mini-tubs, missing engine, battle scars and all, any time over the no-mile jackstand ornaments that represent the norm for these cars.
