I am just wanting a good sounding exhaust system that is stock in appearance but with headers, x-pipe going into a crossflow or transverse muffler and exiting in stock location(67-8) on a BBC Camaro. No true duals.. It can be either 2.5"in / 2.5"out or 3"in / 2.5"out. So tell me what you have or what you have heard? I am leaning towards one muffler but I havent heard it in person yet. If you happen to have sound bites load them up as well.

I have a Pypes "Race Flo" transverse/Crossflow muffler in my L78 Nova. Has headers and X pipe. The sound is very mello at idle, not totally quiet, but subdued, When you punch it, it sounds almost like a full open system, but only when you hit it. I very much like it, but that is my opinion. You can go to the Pypes site and hear sound bites. I think they have Marlin's Yenko Nova with the same set up. Good Luck

Love mine! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

They angle cut the tailpipes for me so it looks dead stock - till you get on it! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif

I also have the Pypes transverse Race Pro w/ x-pipe...but I run exhaust manifolds. Picked up 1+ mph and a tenth or more over a Flowmaster setup...in Pure Stock trim it's run a best of 11.73 @ 118 on the Polyglass and through the exhaust.

I have the flow master American thunder under the L79 . The only thing I don't like about the exhaust is it had to be cut to exit like Marlins car. Designed really for a camaro but will work on the nova. For me when I back my car out of the garage on a dirt area the dust is real bad because the exhaust points down with a small angle. I may try to modify mine this winter to exit out the side behind the rear tires. I am in the process of going to the stock exhaust manifolds. Do too, way 2 much heat in the engine compartment from the headers. It also looks like the Pypes tail pipes exit farther back and have a different angle which might help on dirt roads. Mine almost goes straight down. You can see it in the video. Click the image for the video.

I run a transverse Flowmaster. There is a low to mid range drone that I don't particularly like but I've lived with it for 14 years. Mike

I had a Flow master crossover muffler on a 1970 L78 Nova with the tips that ended at the quarter panels. I really liked the sound but I did not like the way the 2.5" pipes came out straight out of muffler then bent back to the back of the car. It limited the amount of wheel and tire back spacing I could put in the rear fenders.

+1 for pypes. I put one on my uncles 78 Z28 and really likethe sound. I could tell a definite difference in power and throttle response from the stock 350.
