negotiations are now happening between me and owner of this 63 Nova drop top.
negotiations are now happening between me and the wife also.

I gave them my number over 20 years ago when I sold them a bumper for this car, asking if they ever wanted to sell, call me.

Wow.. a husband and wife in my town have a red 63/64 'vert they have owned since the early 70's. They lived right across from my grade school and I would stare out my 4th grade class window in 1974 or so and watch him do body work on the car out in the front yard.. stopped there 4-5 years ago and they still live there and have the car but it needs redone again..has not been out of the garage since the early 80's..

Very cool Chris! A week or two ago I saw a Canadian Chevy II convert of the same vintage here locally, and took some pics on my cell phone (no small feat for this technically inept mope to accomplish) but of course now I have no way of downloading them off the phone <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/frown.gif

Neat car! I used to have a '64 Nova. I've always wanted a convert. Congrats and enjoy!

Bill, try google+. There is a phone app and you can easily set it up to automatically upload your phone photos (anytime you take one) to your google account. From there, you can put them anywhere you wish.

Need to throw in a water pump and heater core to get going. 50 years of gak on the motor is too nasty to blast off in my driveway

Don't clean the rest of the engine: smear the gunk onto that shiny orange water pump and make it look like old. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif

Very cool car.
Congrats.
I misread the first post. When you said "negotiations are now happening between me and the wife also." I thought you were talking about the owner's wife.

I guess I am getting old. Once again, I am confused.
Chris' wife?
P.O.'s wife?
The car?
All of the above?

the previous owner had a husband, not a wife. She has been driving the car since she got it from her aunt in 1970 as a high school graduation present. The aunt was the original owner. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/beers.gif

Maybe an older guy can verify this, but I believe that is Janis Joplin on the 63 'vert.
(never actually refered to as a beauty, but she had a nice Chevy)

Nice score, Chris! Anticipate lots of smiles to the gallon. I've owned half a dozen '62 - '65 Chevy IIs in my life. Liked them all - but my absolute favorite was the little '64 SS 'vert I had back in 1978. 327, 4-speed, A/C, steering and brakes. Went to Jacksonville, FL with that car for the summer. Even back then, got thumbs up everywhere I went. As a side note, what I remember about Jacksonville - trivia wise - was running out to put the top and windows up at about 4:30 every afternoon. Rains on schedule, in Jacksonville...
