No Rick that car was sold to a guy and he is having a cookie cutter restoration done. This is another COPO that was bought from a dealer/dealership in Columbus where the owner has a huge sign/petroleum collection.

Sold new at Bob McDorman in 1970 and he bought it back in 1993 for his collection. Doug bought the car off Bob when he was thinning his collection 3 years ago. Yes it is all old school and the way it should be...

The car is shown at 2:35 in the video...

Guys , thanks for the kind words...the car is a real COPO X11. Rally Green with white standard interior. Being a stock M22 4 speed ...we have wrestled with this car for 2 1/2 years now ....it has been a demon and an angel all in the same day ....lol. The launch was at 5,600 ....but I have to give the credit to my partner in crime ...Dave McGaffee. He has been the mastermind behind this journey from start until present day....our friendship gets tested with this Green Machine ...lol. This winter we will put our heads together and look to make a few changes. Joe....Fred....&quot;HOLE SHOT&quot; ....is the same as &quot;MONEY SHOT &quot; ...and I can't say what I am thinking....lol. My car enthusiasm comes from my dad .....he would have been 70 yesterday...Happy Birthday POPS. And of course Dave, Joe, Mark, Dru, Tom, Benny, Shawn, Rich , Steve, Brian, Frank, Kenny...and arch rivals ...Grady and Mike. The front license plate is courtesy of Rich Rutt here on the site. Stay &quot;TUNED&quot;. Doug

So that's what they're calling it these days - the term fits. Sure wish he woulda left that car as it was. It had a lot of authenticity from what I saw in the photos.

Cookie cutter or not, I really like a nicely restored car. In a few years, is someone going to be complaining of a cookie cutter preservation? Probably. Every trend that comes along adds something to the hobby (except for the 70's van thing that almost killed it). I get the whole preservation thing, and love looking at some of the untouched ORIGINAL cars. Room for both in the hobby, just as there is room for the restomod, the highly modified, the pro touring, and the day 2. I like all of them. Not a big fan of what usually gets called pro street, but again, to each his own.
I only see a few cars that I would <span style="font-weight: bold">really</span> like to leave as found.

Back on topic. What a really cool car, great pic of a great launch.

Mark ...he does. Lol. On paper the car should be 11.30's. the perfect pass has yet to be ran. We are enjoying getting there. That day will come. We won't put a roll bar in it. The stock day 2 look is enough for me

What rear tire do you need to hook like that?

Doug sent that picture to my phone yesterday, (a first for me, by the way), so I got the hint.
WOW! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/burnout.gif
Just to set the record straight, Bob McDormand bought this car back in 1996. It was in the parking lot on a cool Friday night in September during Bob's annual Corvette and Charity car show. I was talking with the guy who owned the car when Bob pulled up in his '57 Chevy golf cart, and without ever leaving his seat, negotiated a price and bought it on the spot.
It sat in one of his pole barns, neglected but still shining until Doug bought it.
What amazes me is that I never saw Doug get behind the wheel of any of his cars before last year. Dave McGaffee has always been the guy with the hot shoe and the golden wrench. Three years ago, when Doug rented the track and invited me to bring my car out, Dave was behind the wheel of that green beauty, and when I offered my keys to Doug for a pass behind the wheel of my car, thinking that he could handle the M40, he declined.
(He did ride shotgun with me for a pass, 13.92 et and no more passengers, thank you very much.)
All I can say is WOW! Doug, you put the hurt on that thing. That is a whole lot of bite from those sticky Mickey's. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

You can print it yourself very easily. Right click on your mouse or touch pad over the picture, scroll down to print, select properties for your printer, put 8x10 photographic paper in the printer, and hit OK.
OR, you can select &quot;copy&quot; and put the file on a flash drive, take it to any drug store, and have the print it for you. Easy peasy... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif
