Now that I have my 69 Nova about finished, I'm thinking of some day 2 stuff I'd like to add.

One thing I'm looking into is cheater slicks.

I'm running the repro 15" X 7" SS wheels now, with G-60 Firestone Wide Ovals on all 4 corners. My plan is to get a set of 15 X 7 plain steel wheels, maybe painted white, and have a set of blackwall cheater slicks, that fit those wheels.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what tire will fit the wheels, and stay inside the wheel wells of the 69 Nova.

I guess what I need is a G-70-15 cheater slick, and I can't seem to be ably to find them. Cheater slicks to me are a flat bias ply tire, with 2 threads on the outside of the tire, about 2" from the tire edge, with black walls on both sides....no white walls.

Anyone have any ideas how I can make this happen. I don't want old tires that I can't trust. I'm thinking new tires. The new steelies are not a problem. I also don't want the car sticking up in the air in the back.

I've been thru a lot of web sites, like Coker, Kelsey, etc, looking for slicks, with no luck.

You might want to try UniversalTire. Maybe you can contact someone there and they can help you. Here is the website:

Here's what you need Bill. These will set your beautiful mount off just right and they look pretty good wrt period correct day-two! Sensa, aka Grady, schooled me. Check out this look. These are available at Summit and other places. I believe Grady recommends the 14" for the Nova......

they are exactly what you need with no fit issues. White steel wheels are perfect also IMO. Skinny Cragars in the front!

If you can accept a 14" wheel (which I think look great on Novas).

Boy, they look good. I need a set myself, but there is still some rubber to burn on my current set of M&Hs. As for the skinny Cragars for the front---Well, it just doesn't get any better!!!
I do have a biased opinion (check out my autograph pic),

Thanks for all the help/advise. I know exactly what I need now. I did speak to Grady this morning, and will be going with the slicks you guys suggested. I'll probably get new skinnier front wheels/tires too.

BTW, for u Chevelle owners out there, the 15" versions of these are 29.5" tall and will fill your wheel well just right. These are the size tires. That were run on my Chevelle by the original owner. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/naughty.gif

I've not ordered any, but is there an expanded selection of 8.5" wide tires? Seems like you got to go 9" wide to get 15 wheels.
