Are you referring to the one with Tim W's red convertible 442 on the cover? Because THAT one is pretty darn good, especially if you are an &quot;Olds&quot; man like myself.

I think I might like the one <span style="font-style: italic">after </span>that one better, although Tim's 442 convert is indeed a beauty! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/headbang.gif

I'm guessing something may have been lost in translation. I said there was a Gobi beige deuce in the lot when I looked at both cars at Rapids. Maybe it was my harelip stutter.

As we have done annually, the cover of this issue will be re-created at the MCACN show, November 23-24, Presented by the fine folks at Muscle Car Review magazine!

We truly appreciate the effort put forth by Stefano Bimbi, (you have no idea...just ask him!) and of course, the owners of these great cars for allowing us to make this happen. And of course, we also appreciate Arvid's continued support and coverage of our show! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/youguysrock.gif

Thanks Sam. Got thinking today and wondering why I didn't pull my deuce out with yours when it was here, and take some pics. We'll have to do that some time down the road.

Arvid, it was an honor, and pleasure to work with you on the photo shoot, and article. The cars are cool, but some of the folks you meet, like you, make it even better. And thanks to Mr. Bimbi for the invite, and hospitality while we were there for the shoot.

See you in Nov.

I like the MCR Yenko cover shot - well done.

Some of the info on the 1967 Yenkos is off. The first sentence is not correct as the early Yenko 427 Camaros are SS350 to SS427 conversions. The SS396 to SS427 came later.

The 107 is not a good estimate of 1967 Yenko 427 Super Camaro production. It is over 40% higher then other estimates. The 107 vin list is from Yenko but research has shown that many of them were not 427 Camaro conversions.

Yenko Sportscars was the Company &quot;technically&quot; selling Yenko Super Camaros.

depends on what you are looking at but most of the 1967 material used Super Camaro
Early 1967 Yenko SportsCars ads had the Stinger (D/P Corvair), The Stormer (Z/28 race car), and the Stomper (AHRA 427 Camaro Super Stocker) sounds like a lot of S names but is documented on original paperwork.

Later they used &quot;Yenko Super Camaro&quot; is different forms .
The option sheet has &quot;Yenko Super Camaro 450 and 410&quot;
The Dick Harrell 1967 Funny Car had &quot;Yenko Super Camaro Dealers&quot; on the door

The Dick Harrell 1967 AHRA 427 Camaro Super Stocker had &quot;Yenko S/S Camaro Dealers&quot; on the door
Some magazine ads had &quot;Yenko Sportscars presents the Yenko Super Camaro&quot;

I don't think it's subjective and don't recall having seen any 1967 Yenko advertising stating Yenko Super Car?

I thought the YSC designation changed later, did it not? It may have started out as meaning Yenko Super Camaro, but by 1969, I don't think it stood for that. It wouldn't make sense to have &quot;Yenko S/C&quot; stripes and YSC headrests on the 1969 Yenko Chevelle and 1969 Yenko Nova if the &quot;C&quot; stood for Camaro, would it? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif

in 67 and 68, Yenko used Super Camaro in the ads and other info but I don't know if it was 100% as Don and Donna Mae liked to play around with the ads and promo material and changed them.

In 1969 the &quot;MEET THE MEAN ONES&quot; ad has &quot;The Yenko Super Cars&quot; and YENKO SPORTSCARS INC.

On some original documents, sYc is &quot;YENKO SPORTSCARS INC.&quot; , the YS-xxxx numbers are &quot;Yenko Sportscars serial numbers&quot;

Even the Yenko Honda Mini Stinger ad has YENKO SPORTSCARS INC.

Don and Donna Mae were very proud of YENKO SPORTSCARS INC. and used that name on many documents from 1960s into the 1980s. YENKO SPORTSCARS INC. was recognized as a manufacturer by SCCA, FIA, ACCUS, and AHRA.

In 1968 they were trying to get NHRA to recognize the 1968 427 Super Camaro as a production vehicle.
They sent NHRA a letter where they claimed to have built 150 Stingers, 107 1967 Yenko Super Camaros, ordered 200 1968 Super Camaro base vehicles and said they will increase it to 600.
ALL the production numbers they used in that letter have proved to be incorrect.

So maybe in 1969 they were Super Cars, but earlier they could have been Super Camaros?

Or SC/Ramblers? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Stefano
10-26-2013, 06:03 PM
The Camaros were always Super Camaros, based on what I have seen. In 1969 when the line up was increased to Chevelles and Novas then as a group they have been referred to as Yenko Super Cars.

I have never seen the 427 Camaros identified by Don as a Yenko Super Car, although they indeed were all Super Cars.

But a Yenko Nova is a Yenko/SC?

StealthBird

I actually thought that it always stood for Yenko Sports Cars. Seems like all the letterheads, invoices, and correspondence from Yenko Chevrolet used that wording. When they began building Camaros in 1967, it was a coincidence that &quot;YSC&quot; still worked for Yenko Super Camaro. Along came the Yenko Nova in 1969, and the name &quot;Yenko Super Cars&quot; worked just as well.

But I thought &quot;YSC&quot; stood for Yenko Sports Cars, and there were various twists on that acronym.

442w30
10-28-2013, 02:50 AM
OK, so let me amend my initial query, as I never thought &quot;SC&quot; stood for Super Camaro but &quot;Super Cars&quot; or &quot;Sports Cars&quot; as Mike points out.

It seems this is a can of worms, but one with several answers that could be correct depending on the year.

In 1967 it was a combination of Yenko Sportscars and Span Inc.

many of the 1967 ads show ......

&quot;Manufactured by Yenko Sportscars&quot;
&quot;Distributed by Span Inc.&quot;

the 1969 headrest logo is &quot;sYc&quot; as that just looks better as a design detail
the stripe has &quot;YENKO/SC&quot;

I would think they mostly stand for Yenko SportCars as that was the name they used as the manufacturer but hard to say what they were thinking at the time.

Stefano

If you want to strive to be accurate it was, Yenko Sportscars, Span Inc. and a Network of Chevrolet dealers, as well as their respective agents (such as Dick Harrell) and employees, who sold new 1967 Yenko Super Camaros, to the public.
