Everyday 69 Camaro Back In The Day

Typical car of the day, 307, simple mods..the cars we grew up with and liked.

I would like to see someone do a car like this, non SS, flat hood

I'm thinking that to be concours correct for day 2 we should require mud flaps. Pretty much everybody had them including my sfy deuce. Either you ran them with the big tires, or you had no paint on the lower qtr pnl.

My neighbor had that EXACT 69; gold with black vinyl top, 307, flat hood, but he had Keystones on it.

He painted it red with black stripes, of course. Still pretty cool.

Cool old pic !!! My first camaro I bought with a friend for 75 bucks in 1977. It was a driving 67 w/327 auto. It had a Starsky and Hutch stripe at the time..(wish I had a picture).
At that time, I saw an article about the elusive 602 67 Z-28's, so we imediately turned it into a Z clone...even w the automatic !! At the time the 67 Z's were thought to be all Rally Sports !!

The point is, clones go way back !!

Yup! In 1983 (I was 11 yrs old), my Dad picked up a '68 Malibu 307 for my Mom to drive. Within 6 months, it had an SS hood, blacked out grill and rear cove, SS emblems front and rear, and 69-70 SS wheels. The SS cars just looked better, and &quot;SS&quot; parts were available and cheap back then. No reason not to &quot;clone&quot;.

I would like to find those small aluminum mud flaps. The real small shiny ones. Not sure if they helped much but saw many cars in those days sporting them.

I believe those shiny mud flaps back then were actually stainless steel (and sharp as hell on the edges, if I recall correctly).
