I believe them to be I asked the original owner about them he said that the salesman told him they were to give the illusion of a full frame

Yes they are. Actually have a set. I need you to see if there is a part # on yours. The set we have doesn't have any markings on them. I took them off an original 68.

They are rocker curtains. There are two different lengths. There are various theorys as to what option it took to trigger these as they were also on 4 doors. I have see the most on cars like yours with the belt line molding, and bright window trim. But I have seen them in other combinations also. None of the 50 Gibb cars that I've seen have had them.

Cool piece. Looks like it's seen some salty roads though.

So that's what those things are called. I have an original unrestored 68 SS that I bought from Brent396 a year or so ago. Last month at Hershey a nice guy, who I think is a member here, was looking at the car and asked if the car had these things. I didn't have a clue what he was talking about. He proceeded to describe them and I still didn't have a clue. My car does not have them and there is no evidence it ever did, ie no holes in rocker where they would have attached. My car does not have any body side moulding or bright window trim so that may be the reason as maybe cars wih the higher level trim got them. This is the first time I have ever seen those things.

My 07B build date 68 SS L48 Nova never had them either. I have an 11D non SS smallblock Nova that does have them.
