That's the green on green Dale Chev L72 - thought it sold at B-J this year for $115K?

I usually don't comment on someones asking price but has a iron block COPO ever sold for 390K ? That is quite the asking price.

Since Charley brought it up, recently there have been multiple 9561s come up for sale asking north of $150k (sometimes Arctic). Where is this coming from and how is it justified? I haven't seen any trend to indicate these prices are justifiable in any auction setting. Hagerty's price guide (http://www.hagerty.com/price-guide/1969-Chevrolet-Camaro) says the average price for these cars is $133,555. What's going on? Trying to artificially inflate the value of these cars?

Maybe they put up the wrong pictures by mistake and they actually do own #7 or their ebay account has been hacked by a scam artist. I can't see any dealer being that out of touch with 9561 prices.

especially when this gem can be bought for 200-250K:

I always find it amusing when a dealer/broker can't even write a proper description, refuses to use spell check and quotes incredibly inaccurate information. Especially when trying to sell high dollar cars. And what is more amazing to me is that someone with the means to own such a car would allow it to be represented in such a manner.

In my opinion...the red flags are waving!

First 140 mph speedo that I've seen with speed minder. Looks like just 9561 - no 9737 & no X-11.

----I have only ever seen one COPO with this color combo and it was Canadian ordered. Anyone with a serious interest might check that out. That particular car was brought back to the US and correctly restored (for the time) on Cape Cod. It may have had a lot done to it by this time as its been quite awhile. Chris W. may remember that COPO as well....Bill S

The seller hasn't sold anything in the last year and all of a sudden they list $600,000 worth of cars. something doesn't seem quite right here.

I was also wondering why the clueless comment but then read this description.

"This rare factory race car was set up by the factory to set the bar for performance of the era. Starting with a 427 Big Block that producing nearly 425peak horsepower. It features an aluminum block and heads.

The Brakes were also beefed up at the factory and set up to compliment the massive power this truly rare care is capable of.

This C.O.P.O is a matching numbers, certified number 7 of only 69 that were built of these special factory race cars.

This car has been through a frame off restoration in 2005 and has sat in museum status since then and is ready for a new home.

The interior feature bucket seats, center console shifter and is in authentic C.O.P.O green."

They seem to be selling a COPO but think they have a ZL1.

As if there was a specific green shade they used on COPO's only. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/crazy.gif

Sounds like they might have the super rare COPO 9560/9561 hybrid as stated in its "documentation".... <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/laugh.gif

Welcome to the blurrr of today's Copo market?
Obviously this is not one of the 9560 ZL1's.
What absolute facts are known of this car?
Is this L72 9N650526?

Yes, it looks like it. Don't think Dale Chev ordered 2 that color combo. It was at SCR 02.

Back in the day Dale Chev was a regular stop on the tour for WI car guys. Former workers recall 6 L72 COPOs and 2 re-distributed Gibb ZL1s. 3 of the L72 cars are known to exist: this one, a Garnet Red 4-speed, a Yellow/Yellow 4 speed. A former co-worker bought a Hugger Orange/Orange automatic COPO there, not known to exist. Another was said to be Rallye Green/white standard 4-speed, raced since new and not known. Both ZL1s are still around, #7 & #49.

Dale did 427 conversions, stocked Z/28s [2 JL8s] L78s, LS6 Chevelles. Not many seem to have survived.

This morning got another message from seller. I had asked why there's a sign saying l72. He said that's wrong

Has anyone tried calling the dealer to ask about the car? It looks like the seller has been selling mostly video games and dolls so this is probably a scam.

If it has an aluminum block and heads why is it painted? You would think leaving it unpainted would help selling this car.

Seller sent me a number to call and I deleted it so I can't tell if its the same. Car is nice, doesn't match #7 at all.

Owners wife emailed and said they took out L72 and put in Aluminum motor. No pictures that I saw. Guy who listed it somehow added the zl1 car 7 stuff. She said someone will get it corrected. Husband out of town. Still have both motors. She said cast block is numbers matching.

That sounds more scam-erific than before. I bet the husband was just transferred overseas in the military, and she can ship you the car for free, overnight, if you only prepay via western union, first. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/rolleyes.gif
