Secondary throttle return spring? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif

Not sure what you're referring to there.

Guessing he means one of these.

That spring is for a mechanical secondary carb, there's no provisions to mount it on a vacuum secondary carb. Besides, if the carb is gear drive, the primary & secondary throttle shafts are 1-1 so there should be no need for a secondary return spring. The secondary shaft should close via the gear drive as the primary side closes.

So the primary spring closes all three barrel for a leak-free seal.

Correct.

I dunno
The guy I bought it from
Told me it needed that spring
( like the one in the picture)
I have never owned a 3 barrel
Holley before ......
So doing this one is
All new to me ....
I remember these holleys
From the guys cars where I grew up
As a kid .....always wanted one ...

If you can post some pics (or email them to me), I'll try to help.

Got the pics. As was stated, it's got a gear drive conversion on the pass. side, so a conventional return spring on the primary side will suffice.

I would advise replacing the primary throttle blades, however; whoever drilled bypass holes in them drilled the holes in the wrong place, and unless the carb is going on something with a pretty wild cam, you'll have trouble getting it to idle correctly.

Thanks for the info..
Would you be able to restore
This for me?
What other holley model carbs use
The same primary blades??
I've only got the one 3 barrell

Dave;

I replied to your email.

The primary blades are the same as an 850, no problem there.
