Not sure I want to take the time to finish this one. Business has been growing and with the new COPO purchase, well, you know. Kids starting college in a few years, well, you know.. Generally too many cars, well, you know.
Several members have tried to buy this car throughout the years. Throwing the lure out to see if anyone wants this car. Car was supposedly a Motion or Motion Modified car. Here is what I know as fact, and what I think are stories about this car.
Unique Vin and Trim Tag – 124379N661188, X66D80

Facts
That 4 letter, hard to get report, starts with an N and ends with B, shows dealer code 27079, which is Curry Chevrolet, near Motion. She shipped on 6/26/1969. I have one of the only hard copies of this report that I know of. VERY hard to get a hard copy from the computer. Has several additional lines such as “Horsepower” (blank on this report). I have been threatened by merely having this report. Black choppers are probably circling right now. 
Certified by Jerry M as an authentic, no rebody, real Trim Tag, X66D80 Camaro SS. Full report available. Certified with hidden vins and report above.
This SS was ordered as a 396, with the D80 option, in Hugger Orange and basic black interior.
She was further ordered without a radio (the grounding divit was not stamped out in the firewall). This was a very basic car order with few options. Obviously intended to modify and track.
The car was modified in it’s past with a sump in the tank, and it was modified with 6 leaf springs in the rear. Had a set of authentic motion valve covers and a Holley three barrel carb in trunk.
Car was in New York most if it’s life until 2004-5 when it went to Connecticut, then here to New Orleans.
Previous owner believed it to be a Baldwin Motion car. Joel Rosen was paid the inspection fee and gave a “maybe”. He would not certify the car, nor would he document it as not a motion car. Ultimately, after payments, and communication from me, he still would not give any paperwork either way. I even wanted paperwork stating that this was NOT a motion or motion modified car. I asked for a "maybe" report, and obviously, no. No reports were issued and I was refused (in spite of the fee and offers of additional fees).
Not Facts but some of the many stories I have gotten:
- This car was dealer traded to Baldwin Chevrolet
- This car was a “Day 2” Motion Mod
- This car spent time with Rufus Boyd “Brooklyn Heavy”
Current Condition
I had the car painted back to the correct and original Hugger Orange in 2010. The exterior body needed no rust repair. There were some light rust repairs on the front top windshield channel. There were some previous “inexpert” rust repairs where the windshield meets the cowl. Not visible once windshield is in and not worth (in my opinion) replacing cowl with the questions that would raise. The usual stress lines between the rear windshield and trunk panel were filled in over the years and the shop did not fix that. There are consequently some stress marks there. They will need to be etched out and spot painted. Note that the inner lower qtr panel on inside has separated from the outer. This is not rot and likely a casualty of drag racing and tires. Again, original quarters, so my opinion was that it was not worth changing the quarters. If anything , an inner patch could be used. Interior is about 50% repop. The rest of the interior package goes with the car.
Being painted over three years with NO signs of any rust, bubbles, or rot is a very good and rare thing!
Engine is a 1970 Dated CE Block, fresh professional rebuild to 450hp, with receipts for $6,500.00 work. Canfield Aluminum heads. All told, almost 10k in engine and build. Full specs available. Engine was broken in at speed shop on rack and break in oil changed. It is now sitting in the cradle and needs the headers connected and wiring done. Same with M20, fresh rebuild, just sitting on crossmember. Needs linkage hooked up. Rear is original to car. BS code originally, now has higher gears, 4.11 I *think* (counting rotations).
Classic Torque Thrusts (14”) and Sidepipes (not hooked up yet).
Again, great paint job, by a professional and not a hack.
Unique Items:
No Radio “Radio Delete” commonly called
Gas Tank Sump
6 Leaf Springs
Motion Valve Covers (Real not repop)
Holley 3 Barrel Carb
Has the numbers “69” welded into subframe, on cradle, just under crank pulley (??)
Hood has hood pins that I left in place and put back on after paint (no keys)
Inside trunk panel has drag strip stickers. Left in place.
I don’t “have” to sell it, but realize that I just don’t have the time anymore. It’s not a fire sale, but like I said, several members wanted to buy this car immediately after I bought it. In fact, after Joel refused the “no” letter I got several more calls on the car. Which aint' worth much other than mentioning.
Buy it as a cool ol’ SS 396 Racer, and if you do find any providence, then that’s even better. Someone, Somewhere on Long Island knows this car and it’s history.

$28,000.00
I have pics from prepaint, and sorry, no pics of the "special" report will be sent out. New owner will get the originals. Jerry M has verified that "special" report, and it is in his report, which you can get a copy of to help in making a decision. Sorry, but I really don't need anymore lawyer calls from the N**B.
