Does anyone know anything about this car? It looks like it is all there. Too bad he "fluffed" up under the hood. I would like to had seen it untouched. But looks like a real nice car. Big BIN price.

There has always been good cars like this in Ohio and Pa. because of the bad weather. My GTO from Akron, and others I've owned from Ohio were only driven on nice summer weekend nights to hang outs. It wasn't unusual for me to only put a 100-200 miles on my Goat in one year, and I was a teenager at the time. It's almost impossible to find ultra low mile cars here in Ca. unless someone died, and the car sat untouched.

Real nice car! Like the no spoilers etc. but a buck 19 with a fluff job for a non RS or even an X33 Zap 28?

That overspray on top of the cowl/firewall looks a lot like base, not lacquer. The odometer numbers aren't lined up either.....worth a skeptical inspection for sure.

I wish I had the room, and more importantly the extra $$$. But at a buck nineteen that is a ton of dough for that car IMO. Even if it checks out to be all that it is advertised to be.

I agree, my Gold RS Z came from Reading PA, and later Tonawanda NY. My car has 41K on it now, 35K when I bought it 8 years ago. I believe the car just sat up and not driven because of the 4.10 gear (impractical) and not a good winter/snow car.

Did the overspray usually hit the trim tag like that? Down that far?

overspray looks ok to me. that is "almost" COPO money though.

"that is "almost" COPO money though"......... Sam, they are asking ZL1 money for new z28s . Since this car has had a motor and engine compartment resto and "extensive" undercarriage detailing, how would it fare in survivor type national judging???

Good question for Steve Shauger, Dave Valentin or Johnny Karvonen. I guess the things that were addressed did not survive King.
If the car is legit its worth every penny.

It's certainly an impressive car - I owned a '69 Z in the same color scheme (car had spoilers and cowl hood though) and it was a real stunner. As for the $$, we'll have to see if someone feels the car is a good value at that price...

Thanks Lynn.
This beautiful car presents a quandary - do you pay more for a properly detailed original car using correct appearing finishes or for preserved original patina? Is that a matter of personal preference?
Either way, 119K? For a non-RS, no cowl hood, standard interior green car? That's a bit tough to swallow. Originality does not trump desirable options/colors when you get into that kind of money. And I am not saying I am one, BUT, the skeptics out there will refer to the ONLY documents included (P-O-P and window sticker) as THE two most counterfeited docs in the Chevrolet community. 2cents.
Don't know about 119k, but wouldn't be surprised to see this one changing hands at or near 100k

Well Des like we go back and forth all the time. What is a "true" survivor car? Original paint car IMO does not make it a survivor? It means the paint survived but other things did not. How about an unrestored car with one repaint? I like that alot. Can't believe that green LS-6 Chevelle is still around.

People have been paying much more money for unaltered original cars as of late. Paying even more than what a similarly restored car would bring in.
(I am a certified example of that)
The survivors now seem to be "THE" cars to acquire. I think a lot of it has to do with the bulletproof nature of their condition as an added, major portion of the provenance puzzle. Anyone can fake paperwork but you can't fake originality.
(Too bad they restored the engine compartment).

Looks like a very nice car. It's also nice to see the owner disclosed all the rebuilding and detailing he's done. It's very difficult to find an untouched or fluffed car, and they are the ones that bring the big dollars. Based on what I can see the car would do very well in our program, but to really determine originality it would need to be inspected and certified by the Vintage team. I will say there are no red flags that I can see.

That green LS6 has gotten more interest than most any LS6 I have been involved in the last several years. I think I am getting 4-5 emails/calls a day on that car. Also cannot believe it has not sold. It is less now Sam, $62.5k WITH free delivery!
Love this Z as well!

Very nice car but to take the day 2 stuff off and give the engine compartment a fresh look? I would have rather seen it as is. There's thousands of fluffed Z28's around. Not many honest to goodness survivors. Personal opinion. Great car and I hope the seller does well with it!

Steve, does camaro judging differ from the corvette "survivor" judging type class ? I know corvette takes 4 categories[interior, exterior, undercarriage, engine compartment] and you must obtain 50% originality over all . If your undercarriage and engine compartment are extensively restored youve lost 50% ,how would one arrive at 50% originality unless the interior and paint both pass with 100%,unless there is a different formula?? Ive always avoided any type of spray paint or finsihing of any type on survivor cars ive had , i wonder if i should fluff some cars up while obtaining some originality and have a better cosmetic car that will still pass national judging ???
Stefano

Corvette Survivor judging is based on a percentage of 50% or better originality of 4 categories or levels.
You can not obtain a level in a category but still have a certified Survivor, just not a 4 level Survivor.

Hi Chuck, I rather focus on our standards not other programs. I think you'll find all the information you need in our mission statement. Attached is a link to the Vintage Certification page http://www.mcacn.com/vintagecert.htm
Click on the highlighted Mission Statement link and you'll see our program is well defined and give examples of dos and don'ts and if you have further questions give me a call. The simple answer to your question is the more untouched we determine your car is, the better it will score. Preservation is only 10%, originality is 90%. hope this helps. Our philosophy is not to encourage owners to fluff their cars to achieve a better score which is how our program is set up.
I define fluffing as repainting and replating, and replacement of original components for ones that are in better condition. Reproduction/non OEM parts receive zero points. Replacement of non original components with orig assembly line components (not orig to car) results in a 50% credit score for that component.
Regarding cleaning, we rather you err on the side of caution and clean using non invasive methods so as to not remove stampings, inspection marks or finishes. The only reason there would be a deduction for cleanliness is if we can't determine the originality of plating or finishes in a particular area, but I don't recall that ever being an issue.
Hope this helps....
