RE: Correct Replacement Core for a 1969 Camaro Big Block L78 Harrison Radiator
I could use some assistance with a Manufacturer and Supplier for a correct core, I am looking to purchase 2-3 correct fin replacements to restore my original dated radiators.
also looking for correct top/bottom plates and side brackets to repair some other radiators that I will be selling.
Can anyone recomend a good knowledgeable shop in the Philadelphia/Allentown PA area?
Thank you
Fred
I ordered a correct replacement core for my 69 COPO from Heartbeat City Chevrolet. Don't know if they will sell the fins or plates seperately.
I have a local guy here do my re-cores..dont know if they are 100% correct though..does a decent job of not f@&#ing them up too bad. He remembers me as the crazy restorer guy..".I know I know..don't paint it when Im done!" I have one I'm bringing him soon..I'll report back.

The HBC radiators are right on and are beautiful. We buy them for resto work and media clean the ends again, detail and paint them. It is truly one of their best pieces. The doo sell the end caps, top support with the notch cutout, and support brackets separately. A little pricey but one of the best parts

We order the new cores from Heatex.Same place HBC gets them from, but a lot cheaper. Reuse the original tanks. The ones from HBC are nice, but the only date is may, june? The side brackets from HBC are also real nice. The core from Heatex also come with the correct top and bottom channels with the cut outs.

Heatex will sell the cores without the top rails. They will also lay a flat piece of copper on the fins so the orig rails can be attached and you really don't even see it. Much cheaper than HBC They will also sell a core with more tubes for better cooling for the hard to cool cars

I purchased the top and bottom rails from HBC and send them to Heatex to install on the core. The last radiator I did was about 350.00 -400.00 range complete. It was for a 69 trans am with the HD cooling. The radiator shop that we use does excellent work at a fair price. And he also puts the crimps like the factory. John

Correct Core update:
I just got back from Michigan went to visit Heatex and Heartbeat City; I called ahead and received a full tour of Heatex and their manufacturing facility, it is refreshing to see all of their components are made in house in the USA.
The side plates( top and bottom plates) look correct with the right punches and center dimples and they will attached them to the brass headers and core- I have two CT422 cores 23" 4 row coming in next week -I will report back on how they match up to some of my original cores.
Then I went to Heartbeat City and looked at their side plates- which again looked correct another great resource; Side Tanks -looked very good but as stated previously the only date for their OO side tanks is June and they do not have 4 row mounting brackets in stock nor have any idea when they will be back in stock due to a manufacturer production issue.
Both companies were very friendly and helpful.
