I have a 'What is this?' question.

I pulled the gas tank from my 69 Z a few years ago looking for a possible build sheet that may have been stuffed on top and to generally look underneath for any possible problems. Looking around I found this on the driver side, as you can see, by the drain plug going up into the well.
Any ideas what is or what it's for?

Muffler support bracket for single exhaust.

Is it my imagination or does it look like there is a bolt broken off in it? Could be the heavy undercoating that was applied too.
